Something TERRIBLY wrong with vanish...Follow

It WORKED... with a hunter's pet on me, and it was even in Bestial Wrath.

This is the first time I've experienced world PVP with a hunter on me, so I suppose maybe there's soemthing I'm missing... but with all the talk on here about how vanish is broken, I was sure it was going to fail.

Has anyone else noticed it has been more dependable since 2.3? This is just a casual observation, but I'm wondering if Blizzard "stealth-fixed" (yes, pun intended) vanish. What say you?

Absolutely not. Was in a big the other day. I had just gotten out of battle and needed a chance to heal up when a Hunter sicked his pet on me. When his pet was 40 yards away and I noticed it was headed for me, I popped my vanish and attempted to make my escape. Without missing a beat the pet kept coming straight for me, only to pull me out of stealth. It was if I had never vanished at all. And yes, the hunter was the same level. I've also had more completely unexplained removals of vanish then I ever had before. If anything, it's worth. Just my experience. Vanish is still ridiculously broken, with no hope in sight.

Is hunter's Mark on you?

Vanish will always clear a Hunter's Mark. This was implemented a few patches ago and has (at least for me) worked without fail since they added it, even if the stealth portion of vanish fails. Vanish has always been a bit iffy. I Think I might just not bother vanishing in BGs anymore unless I'm sure it will work.

It's just a BG... not like you have to corpse run or pay for durability loss.

To answer the initial poster: YES, Vanish sometimes works (thank God!!!) but NO, it is not debugged. You will still have occasional issues, as in the past... (see below as well)

What I underlined is where you made the mistake. Read the threads on this issue on this board (one of which I have started myself couple of months back). You will notice that you should NOT pop your Vanish BEFORE the pet reaches melee range. Some posters even suggested to hit 1) Sprint (to get away from the pet and avoid that one of its super fasts attacks take place at the same time as your Vanish and pull your right out of stealth again) and then 2) Vanish if I remember well.

If anything, since 2.3 Vanish has become less reliable. I generally blow a vanish, only to be taken out by a rogue or Ram (i hate those f-in rams), followed be prepping and blowing another vanish, to which the hunter pet that was 200yrds away runs straight at me and attacks me.

Pets will no longer chase players that Vanish.

As stated on the offical WoW patch notes for 2.2.0

Not sure if that is what you meant though.

I think it depends on everything Blizzard has always said stealth depends on. Things like - direction they are facing, distance apart, etc. And pure f'ing luck. I know last night I was in Taranis and after getting camped by a nelf for a bit I went to whack pirates. While there I saw another nelf, this one a huntard 70, baby sitting a few Alliance toons that were my level and thus the right level for the area (Seriously, WTF is with having a babysitter while you go out and quest? L2PVP). Anyway I stealthed up and ganked the warrior while she was taking a pee, then the hunter put mark on me and sicked uber-kitty on me. Sprint, vanish. Mark fades, Huntard and pet run around like idiots for a while. I watched. It amused me.

On a related note:
Sometimes I'll try to drop combat after a fight so that I can restealth. I'll have nothing targeted. I won't be taking damage. I'll have retreated far enough away from the front lines. And still, I won't drop combat. It forces me to blow a vanish. I hate it.

I dont know anymore, i can honestly sit in EotS after EotS with retarded horde that have no idea what they are doing in there, and not care. But when my vanish constantly fails for some reason it gets to me. Its not like its even a big deal, its usually in AV, im usually gonna die soon anyways, but the fact that we are supposed to have that move to get us out of the precise situations it never works in just pisses me off. :)

Stated by the patch notes doesn't mean it's true. And, in this case, it really isn't true. Still partyl bugged.

This bothers me more than the vanish. I hardly use vanish in BG anyway - unless it's a 1v1 or 1v2 situation. But the not leaving combat thing bugs me - I don't know if you can leave when someone's focused on you, or still has you targeted, or if it's ranged....sometimes I leave combat when people are fighting all around me, I can stealth and repop in the same spot. Weird.

Smart rogues don't die very often in AV. If there's a big fight, your job is to trap the guys who run past your front line. You'll soak up hundreds of honor kills, rarely get focus fired, and help slowly whittle away their reinforcements.

I used to HATE AV, but I'm slowly learning the intricacies of it, and enjoying it more. I have started to focus more on the defense as well, it's more fun.
