Vengeful Gladiator Chest not adding stats properly?Follow

#1 Nov 27 2007 at 4:30 PM Rating: Decent
I just picked up my Vengeful Gladiator mail chest piece today. Speaking strictly in terms of agility (being an SV spec Hunter and all), it has 1 more base agility than my old chest piece (Felstalker Breastplate).

I put in two +8 Agility gems (same as my Felstalker had) and a +8 Crit gem (I think it has a +4 Crit socket bonus). I also put +6 Stats enchant on it. That means that in terms of "after market" additions to the S3 chest piece, I should have seen an overall increase of +1 Agility (and a mountain of +crit >:D) but according to my stats swapping the two pieces back and forth, I'm get 13 agility less with the S3 piece than I am with the Felstalker piece. I logged out and in to see if it was just some wierd bug (I've seen that happen with gear before where it doesn't add the stats properly until you log out/in).

Nadda.

As it stands, I'm missing the benefit of 1 gem and the enchant. Anyone else notice something similar?

Felstalker Breastplate:
646 armor
26 agi
26 int
52 AP

Vengeful Gladiator Mail Chest Piece:
1022 armor
27 agi
63 stam
21 int
12 hit
25 crit
21 resilience
38 AP
Ignore 84 armor

That's with no set bonuses, no gems or socket bonuses, and no enchants (I'll let aurelius specify exactly what he had in each, or if it was the same in both, b/c I'm not sure it was the same or just 2 +8 agi gems in the old gear).

As far as agiilty goes, I've got the same gems/enchants on both. Somehow, however, I'm missing 14 agility from augmentations on my S3 piece, which is basically the agility from one of the gems and the enchant. Which kind of sucks. I'm already sacrificing 5 Int and 14 AP...almost makes it not such a good upgrade if it also costs me 13 Agility :P

Do you make any other gear changes when you do that? Or are you simply swapping the chest piece?

Only swapping the chest piece. With the S3 chest piece, my agility is 649. With the Felstalker Chest piece, my agility was 662. Based on my addition, my agility should be 663 with the S3 chest piece, which is not bad for where I want it. Raid buffed in Kara last night my Agility topped out at 840 (scroll, elixir, warp burger, grace of air totem, greater kings, gift of wild).

When push comes to shove, 13 agility isn't going to make or break me in a heroic or a raid, but it just seems odd that it's not adding up properly. I checked and rechecked the stats on the Felstalker Breastplate before I D/E'd it. There was no other "hidden" source of agility. Of the three gem slots, 2 were +8 Agility and one was +4 Crit/+6 Stam. Socket bonus was +6 Stamina. Enchant for +6 Stats.

With the Vengeful Gladiator Chain Mail, of the three gem slots, 2 are +8 Agility, 1 is +8 Crit. Socket bonus is +4 Crit. Enchant for +6 stats.

The only thing I can think of is that there's some sort of bug that's not tallying one of the +8 Agility gems along with the stats enchant. That's the only way it could add up to 14. I'm gaining 1 point from the base stats on the S3 chest, bringing the total difference to 13 Agility.

I was going to place a GM ticket to inquire about it, but my guess is that the GMs were going to be flooded tonight, being the day after a patch and all. We didn't do any runs tonight and I didn't feel like staying logged on just so I could wait through a 1+ hour queue to talk to a GM, but if it isn't fixed by maintenance next week I'm definately going to inquire about it. I started with arena late in S2 and that chest piece represents all but 100 or so of the points I earned throughout the season and I had my eye on it because it represented a significant upgrade for both PvP and PvE.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.

13 agi might also point towards a metagem not working due to socket contraints.
I expect you have a 12agi, 3%crit damage metagem. With the 15% bonus on agility this might calculate to the 13agi you are missing.

Ah, good point mulgrin. He actually said 14 agility (since he's at -13 but had +1) so you're looking at 12*1.15=13.8 (probably rounds up to 14)

That gem requires 2 red, 2 blue, and 2 yellow gems be equipped. Aurelius only has 1 blue gem (looked up armory). So if you get rid of one of your red/yellow/orange gems for another blue gem, you pick up the agility. For you, I'd drop a yellow/orange one so you can pick up the extra agility.

Doh!!

Edit to add: Ya, that was it. I went from 2 red + 1 blue in my Felstalker to 2 red + 1 yellow in my Vengeful Gladiator. I never thought to consider the talent Agility boost when trying to figure out what was happening. I swapped in a green gem (+4 crit, +6 stam) and everything went back to what it should be.

Good call Mulgrin/Skribs!!

I'm looking through the current topics under "in-game support - character" to see if this issue is addressed at all...one of the questions is "Is it possible to change the gender of my character after it is created?" I guess that Azeroth doesn't have modern medicine, because you can't...

But alas, this isn't a topic in there. Hmmm...that's surprising b/c it's confusing even for someone with 3k+ posts and scholar status.
