Help me get ready for Kara!Follow

This is not another which piece of gear should I get. My guild is about to start raiding Kara and I am wondering what kind of numbers as a holy priest I should be looking at. I am concerned with unbuffed and buffed numbers. As I understand it, unbuffed is 0 buffs on, even self buffs. I am mostly concerned with health, mana, mp5 and how much +healing I should be sitting at before I enter, and what you think a good amount of it would be to clear the whole instance. Also I am wondering, I know on trash I will just be healing like normal, but on bosses should I be used to heal the MT, the OT, or the rest of the raid? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Link your armory? Fairly easy to tell if you're ready from a look. I don't know the exact numbers for holy priests as I'm shadow, but I know the gear well enough to tell if you're ready just from experience with guildmates.

I can't really remember where I was when I first went to KZ but I'd say:

1. 1100ish unbuffed healing, with raid buffs you should be up around 1250.
2. Health is rather insignificant until you get to Aran in which you will need at least 8k buffed. (Shouldn't be hard with Kings, GoW, and Fort).
3. Mana is also somewhat insignificant as Mp5 and potions count for much more.
4. Mp5 I'm a little fuzzy on but as high as you can get I'm guessing you'll be somewhere in the 70-80 ballpark.

To clear the whole place you should probably be about 1500 or more. Some of the later boss fights start to hit pretty hard.

As for healing assignments it just depends. In general, Pallys make better single target healers so you'll probably be healing the offtank or doing raid healing. This all depends on your group composition and your gear compared to other healers though.

Switch it up and see how things go I've main healed every boss in KZ with no problem but I didn't really start doing a lot of MT healing until I was about 1400 unbuffed +heal.

I'd say +1000healing and 100mp5 to start and at least +1400healing and 140mp5 to finish. If your guild is attempting Aran, please have at least 7500hp. Who you should be healing depends on the rest of the healers in the group.

Excuse my ignorance, but how the heck does one get 100mp/5?

I think that I am setting around 20-25, I realize my gear is not that great:

Does it come from the higher instance gear? I know that the Mooncloth set has quite a bit, but nowhere near 100. Maybe I'm just scatter-shooting here.

Mana / 5 comes from Spirit as well as gear.

Look on your character page and see mana regen at the bottom. For you, it states:

"111 mana regenerated every 5 seconds while casting"

Hope that helps.

I'm an idiot... I guess I'm too use to looking in game, which just shows the mana regenerated while not casting... I think... been a long day here at work.

Forgive me for asking such a nonsensical question, I guess 100 mp/5 is not hard to accomplish after all.

your gear looks good... almost +1000 heal and over 100mp5. that's enough to get started. don't forget to put healing enchants on your gear (as you get epics).

also, take some consumables:

Blackened Sporefish (+8 mp5) or Golden Fishsticks (+44 heal) - from fishing & cooking
Superior Mana Oil (+14 mp5, 5 charges per bottle, persists through death) - from enchanters
Elixir of Healing Power (+50 healing) - from alchemist
Mana Potions ... I always keep 3 stacks in by bags, just for my kara runs.

I'm still having one of those days here at work...

ixidoria - You think I'm ready to start Kara? Or were you talking about someone else? I had a buddy of mine who told me I was ready to get started on it, I told that there was no way that I was ready for it, or at least I didn't think I was ready.

As far as the pots, elixirs, etc. you mentioned, I usually get those for instances. So I have that part taken care of, as well as food buffs.

yes, BoritheRedd. With 1000 healing & over 100mp5, you should be able to do huntsman, moroes, the play events, and probably curator. once you finish leveling tailoring for 3/3 primal mooncloth and 2/2 whitemend gear, you will be able to heal the entire place.
