Hey guys, cheers on the awesome class. Got one to 8 so far, and I'm loving her. Fact of the matter is, I'm excited to get to 70 and get rolling as a healer. I need to kind of speed level her though, I'm trying to get her to 70 in a reasonable time (a month and half or so), and I wanted to get some advice.

Now to all the people who don't read whole posts and just shout read the FAQ, I already have, I just want some friendly helpful advice.

I was thinking about going with this sort of progression until 40, at which I will spec to AoE grind (40s the time AoE grinding starts, correct?): http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/talents.html?0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000523005130203115000000
From what I gathered in the FAQ after I get SoC I should go down to the Holy tree, now this is where the real question comes in, which would be faster?

Now I have no money to twink out my paladin (I'm going to a new server, so no main to twink her out) so I'll be using mining and skinning as reliable sources of income. However, I was considering at 40 dropping skinning and power leveling Engineering, should I do this or just keep two gathering professions (is the helm really worth it?). Keep in mind that I plan on mainly PvPing at 70, so this is why I'm considering this.

Lastly, I'm excited to get to play this class, and more importantly I'm excited to get to know all of you in the paladin forum.

Cheers!

Welcome! Watch out for Jack though, he'll make you do insane things like spec prot.

I thought that was less Jack and more a product of trying to level as Holy...

I just recently came back and am speed leveling my paladin as well.

I ran mining/engineering from the start. I only used around 20% of the metal I mined up so far and stones are dirt cheap on my server. Gear isn't much a big deal though the psychological effect helps a bit (I switched from Reef Axe to Corpsemaker yesterday, didn't notice that much of a difference. But if you think you're leveling faster, it all works out!).

As most people would recommend starting AoE grinding at level 35 (for Blessing of Sanctuary and maxed Reckoning), I'm planning on doing the same.

PS. I finished off a NE druid with a 300 dmg white + 300 dmg SoC crit. Brought him from 40% health to none XD

Oh, Welcome!

Here's a guide for engineering http://www.almostgaming.com/wowguides/wow-engineering-guide, in case you're interested =)

Ahahahaha. . . speed level . . . hahah. . . (wipes tear). . hee.

Just kidding, bud!

First off, welcome to one of the most complex and entertaining classes out there and to the forums! Hopefully you will be able to succeed with less bumps and bruises while you level/learn your new pally thanks to the lessons learned by some of the veteran players on the forums. They're great for helping with some of the less obvious answers to Wow-life questions.

Anyway.

About the speed leveling, pallies may level a tad slower than some other high-DPS classes, but that doesn't mean they aren't fun. A lot of pallies start out in Ret and then move somewhere else based on the desires for their specialized pally role (ex Healadin, Tankadin, Shockadin, Whackadin, etc).

As for your professions, any gathering one is great for earning money, so you should be fine. You can always swap to Engineering if/when you want to try out some of the toys you can build. If you're intention is to make some spending cash for your twink-PvPer, then skinning and mining are a good way to get yourself a financial base.

In any event, the class is extremely versitile (sp?) and between healing, dealing damage, protecting squishies, cleansing, buffing, and keeping the right arua in play, it can get rather busy. Best of luck with your new character and once again, welcome. Good luck out there!

Well hello! Always glad to meet and see new people here who aren't bumbling idiots (stick around, you might think I'm being mean but it happens too often to count.)

Anyway, first off: Dilbrt is crazy, always do the opposite of what he says, and I would never recommend that anyone go prot if they plan on PvPing. That is, unless they like to REALLY annoy melee dps when they find out it takes an hour to kill you.

Secondly: People here usually say 35 is the time to spec prot. PERSONally, I would wait until 40 to do it, cause I think it's worth the wait to get Holy Shield and get plate armor.

I went down Ret to SoC, then went down holy as I leveled. I found the ret talents to be mostly useless until you can get Vengeance, wheras the holy talents allowed me to grind seemingly forever, and take more enemies without worrying about my heals getting interrupted. It's really up to you, but less deaths = quicker leveling.

Thirdly: If you really want money, I would say keep the gathering professions. There are a lot of money milestones that you need to make sure you have money for, and Engineering is mostly a money sink. If you want the epic helm and some of the other stuff that Engineering offers, just drop it at 70 and power level your engineering up.
