Earth Shield QuestionFollow

#1 Nov 27 2007 at 10:04 AM Rating: Excellent
I am a newly dinged level 50 resto Shaman and I have one simple question about Earth Shield.

When I use this on the tank (or any other player) will the subsequent heals give me or the tank additional threat?

The tank, it doesn't count as you healing the tank it counts as the tank healing himself

Sweet, this spell rocks.

Thanks for the quick response!

Ya earthen shield made going deep resto worth it finally lol.

When I was lvl 60 i didn't need more then 21 points resto to be a main healer in a raid, which wasn't bad since NS was a great tool in every situation anyhow (i used it for tanking and healing and dpsing and was great in pvp).

It was needed anyhow I don't think NS alone would be enough to cut it in these new zones and instances lol.

i don't think NS would cut it in heroics either... but then again i don't think off/spec healing would either... would it? People give me a lot of sh*t for asking to need on healing gear, i tell them as a hybrid it would be nice to have healing gear if i am asked to off/heal raids and such. but they always have the same answer "no resto no heal gear" so should i just respec resto and get my healing gear then go back to ele?

If there is no other mail wearer in the group why should they care if you need the stuff? Obviously don't need against another healer, but otherwise ... I say go for it.

The only mail wearing healer in the game IS Shaman right? I mean, Paladin can wear mail, but they go for plate/healing gear. Druids go for leather/healing. Priests... cloth/healing.

A resto shaman should get mail/healing gear over a enhancement or elemental shaman. They will always be healing, whereas the other specs may be asked to do so only occasionally. The only Mail wearers are what? Shaman and Hunter? (Warrior and Paladin, but they aim for plate generally) Obviously Hunter wouldn't be interested in resto shaman oriented gear. This leaves Shaman lotting mail/healing gear.

If it's BoP, I generally have no problem with anyone needing something they may only use occasionally. If it's BoE, I get a little more annoyed. That generally feels like they are using it as an excuse to lot the item and then sell it. It's amazing how some people will lot 3 leg items in one run and demand that they need them all.

So in short, you (and everyone) should give priority to people who are spec'd for the gear, then if they don't need, to people who COULD use it situationally, then finally to everyone just to sell/DE/whatever.

I can see a paladin wanting mail healing gear over some of the pieces of plate in the game. My paladin healer has several pieces of mail as they are the best besides some obscure heroic drop until he can hit Karazhan.

If the group decides that a shard is worth more to them than the healing gear would be for you then offer to buy them 4/5 of a shard and then add them to your ignore list because they are the kind of players that make pick up groups undesirable.

I'm wondering if Dreaneipally is referring to healing items that are not "mail", such as rings, weapons, shields, and trinkets. I think that if the healing item is a mail piece, then a shaman should get it. If it isn't mail piece, then it should go to a main healer specced toon and only if it is an upgrade. Otherwise, I say greed!

I'd find another guild to raid with. If nobody else needs the healing gear why shouldn't you get it...
