I almost slipped and rolled a warrior alt. today. I was thinking to myself how much fun it is to go toe-to-toe and win, which is basically a warrior's m.o. Then I came back to reality with this conversation with myself... bearing resemblance to the Donald Sutherland - Robert Deniro conversation in that horrible firefighter movie.

conscience: "Self, what do you hate more than anything in the world of warcraft?"

self: "getting kited to death."

conscience: "Self, what do you suppose is the most effective and thus most popular way to kill a warrior, a melee dominating class with poor mobility?"

self: "Grrrrr kiting."

conscience: "Self, when you finally ding 70 and spec shadowstep, what will you do to kiters?"

Self: <with an evil smile> "I will destroy them."

Thus ended my moment of weakness.

Shadowstep ends kiting as long as you're smart about it. A SS rogue can actually beat a frost mage with full CDs up due to the ability. It's not as "win all" like intercept though, you do have to actually know when to use it.

It is bad *** though.

And as far as the war alt, do it when you hit 70 with your rogue. You can see why warriors complain so much: leveling one has got to be the most god awful boring thing you could ever do with your life. I mean it reaps its rewards in the end I guess but still...

Hey Shao, do you step mostly after vanishing, or do you use it unstealthed mostly?
#5 Nov 26 2007 at 1:54 PM Rating: Excellent
I never quite understood the warrior's complain tbh.

I level a warrior to 60 on a brand new pvp server, and it was nowhere as horrendous as many claims it to be. Sure, you don't have many 'oh ****!' button and you've got to be careful with your pulls... but if you keep yourself properly geared for your level via instancing, it's actually fairly painless.

It's even easier if you have a high level main to buy your toons blues and greens. My level 20s warriors tears apart equal level mobs in seconds.

Now leveling a priest...

Unstealthed mostly.

Like for instance, I'll CS a mage then start hitting him with hemo. If the mage blinks out of CS, I follow him with step then KS him. This causes an early iceblock of which I just vanish and get out of AOE range to do the same thing to him again as soon as the block drops. The longer he stays in it the better, as it gives me a chance to reset shadowstep. The beautiful thing about this is you still have cloak of shadows, another vanish, two sprints, blind and another shadowstep up.

Other good uses are evil little tricks in the Blade's Edge arena: if a war is on me I'll act like I'm trying to get away and jump off the bridge. He'll follow, filled with with rage, while I then just step back up to his healer and get some 1 on 1 time with it ^^.

It's a beautiful ability.

shadowstep+dirty deeds active+5pt DT crit = hot damn, 30 yard execute? lol

but ya, i tend to use it for:
1: extra burst dps (ever see a 3500+ evis? :D)
2: extra opener dps (garrote) in 1v1 vs warrior
3: for when the caster sees you stealth 40 yards out, and he thinks he knows how long itll take for you to get there lol
4: ninja ****** flying kick BG heal interrupts! haha!
5: confusing 1v1 fights with melee (rogue vs rogue, both at under 10%... you shadowstep, not only does your next move hit harder, but your SUDDENLY behind him, buys you about 2 seconds of no dps on you hehe "whered he go?" style)
6: sapping ground epix mounts (distract, step, 9 yd sap = win)
7: the ultimate mage pissoff: they blink, you cos -> step.... keep some CP on you, O NO ITS A FULL 5PT KS YOU MUST EAT (or trinket, but trinket = incoming blind... dont be silly) and you still got all your normal root breakers for the next frost nova
8: world pvp, hide from a bm hunter: (H: hunter, R: rogue, M: mob)

H--R---M
step!
H------MR
H------M-R->

if they go red, just go a good... 55+ yards away from them? restealth, get a fresh opener on them? hehe

8: poor sportsmanship assualts on alliance towns (blink right to the innkeeper, kill his ***, and hide <3)

I've been slowly leveling a warrior and its a completely different experience than I imagined. Its really hard to adjust from the 70 rogue pace of life to the lack of "oh sh*t!" abilities warriors have.

I figure things will change once I get MS, but its really quite obvious how gear dependent they are once you play one. Personally I rolled a warrior because I was fed up of having **** PuG tanks and figured, "If you want something done, do it yourself".

Worst mistake of your life. Leveled a warrior to 62 and it might have been the most painstaking thing I could do.

Had a 70 mage. Was my main before BC came out. Wasn't anything close to the bore that is Warrior.

I have more fun on my Warrior alt than I do my Rogue >_>

Having plate armor and still killing things in 12 seconds or less is much fun and usually results in less downtime.
