Math Geniuses HelpFollow

I'm decent with math. But I also know my limits. I am totally confused here. Plus there is some info I am missing that would help me in my calculations I guess.

To get to the main point. I am simply trying to outline goals for the gear I want to have before going into Kara and/or Heroics. I picked my gear, with the help of Aethiens sticky, as well as a few engineering goodies that he doesn't have on the list.

My problem is, I don't know where I will be at as far as stats when I am done obtaining said gear.

I guess I will start off with my build, it's the basic 41/20/0 cookie cutter BM spec.

Now to my Gear Checklist:
Surestrike Goggles v2.0
Jagged Bark Pendant
Beast Lord Mantle
Cloak of Malice
Laughing Skull battle-harness
Felstalker Bracers
Beast Lord handguards
Telaari Hunting Girdle
Scaled Greaves of Patience
Outland Striders
Slayer's Mark of Redemption
Lightwarden's Band
Hourglass of the Unravelled
Core of Ar'kelos
Sonic Spear
Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer

Now with that gear and all the enchants(no gem slots or slot bonuses are included in these numbers) I am looking at the following +stats:
+353 Agility
+1127 AP (assuming 1 Agi= 1 AP)
+63 Hit
+253 Crit Rating (assuming 40 Agi= 22 Crit Rating)
+254 Stamina (+2540 HP assuming 1 Sta= 10 HP)
+120 Intellect(+1800 Mana assuming 1 Int = 15 Mana)
15 MP/5

That's as far as I have come. I don't know what the base stats are for a level 70 hunter without any gear on. Without that base number I can't really say for sure how much actual AP, HP, or MP I would have, much less what my projected tooltip DPS would be.

I know there are a lot of math geniuses out there that would find this math child's play and figure it out for me. If not I can easily wait until I get home, strip my hunter of his gear, and figure it out from there.

But math aside. If anyone thinks I should switch out one piece of armor for something different, your input would be apreciated. Please remember though, this is a Kara/Heroics gear checklist, so all the gear comes from regular instance runs. Or if you think my gear now is good enough for heroics, you could let me know that too(I have all the keys so that's not a problem, I was just worried I wasn't geared enough and would bring my team down. I don't want to be "that guy").

WTB armory - nm, saw the link in your sig, one sec

You're at the point where you should be trying to run heroics a lot. for the few greens you have, I would recommend looking for a quest that will upgrade them. You'll do fine in kara for the first half, assuming the group you're going with knows what they're doing. For a group starting kara, I would not bring you along. The heroic badge gear is good and will help you alot.

I noticed you tended to get the socket bonuses: Make sure they're worth it. For the pants I would just put in 3 +12 AP gems. You're still at the point where AP gems will do more then AGI gems, so replace those, at least the cheap ones. The biggest dps boost would be +hit at this point. That tends to come quickly with good gear so don't buy the +8 hit gems.

I never put nice gems in blues, due to the cost.

I would drop imp mark for efficiency given your somewhat small mana pool.

For your gear list, although I didn't go through it in detail, if you're in 70 blues, mostly non quest you'll be fine for most things. Get 1500 AP and close to 20% crit.

armory link is in his sig.

as for your list, with all that gear you are more then ready for kara/heroics, i would say with half that list you would be ready, there really isnt that much gearing up needed, altho ofc it helps.

some things to consider, if some pices proves difficult to get to drop.

the felstalker set is a great dps set, might want to pick up belt and chest aswell, or go straigt to buying the crafted ssc belt right away if your not too poor.

sunfury leggings is a easy to get quest reward pants thats also very good dps.

in the cipher of damnation quest chain you can besides the bow also get some pretty nice gloves if memory servs me right.

the goggles are really nice tho and a sure bet, will last you well beyond kara

For now I'm not really going for the Socket bonus. What I am really going for is the Meta Gem requirement. The Relentless Earthstorm Diamond, requires 2 of each color. And I figured the quicker I get that out of the way the better, and if I can get a socket bonus out of it, I might as well.

The only piece of equipment, that is pretty much done with the sockets is the Felstalker Bracers. That's 1 Blue out of the way. The Beast Lord Mantle, I plan to get the +20 AP red gem from BGs as soon as I get the honor for it. I'll keep the +Hit gem in there too, since I'm hurting on the +hit, for now.

The other socketed pieces are just filled in. Those pants were my first socketed piece of equipment so I will freely admit I socketed it just to get the bonus(it is a usefull bonus though). And the Beast Lord Chestpiece, I just went to AH and bought some cheep gems, 4g a piece, which is 2 dailies worth of cash, so it's not like it really broke my bank, and the +4 agi seemed worth it to get the bonus. But if I get the Battle-harness to drop, I will be replacing that chestpiece. I didn't want to go without gems, that would be just gimping myself.

2 yellow +hit gems and 2 Purple +ap/Mp5 gems and you've got it.
(or just 2 green gems, the red ones wont be a problem)
No Need to worry about that, i know i'm not and i've got the same metagem.

And the easiest way to check out stats with no gear on is just to strip down ;p

Anyway with what i saw on your checklist, you'll be ready for karazhan.
Sadly i cant check on your Armory now as it gives me a 503 error but you'll most likely be fine.

For my money Valanos' Longbow>Gyro-balanced Khorium Destroyer though I'm not sure if the math would actually back me up on that. It is also much cheaper to get too.

Other than that the gear you listed is as good, if not better, than what I was wearing when I started Kara.

Perhaps try out this site? http://www.warcrafter.net/sandbox

I think that might be what you are looking for. I haven't tested it out much myself yet as I only heard about it the other day. So far I have only checked out my character as she is currently, the breakdown of the average damage for all of my spells is nice.

Anyways, I think in sandbox mode you can create a character of any level/race and gear them out however you want so you can see what the end stats work out to be. Let me know if it works.

Except I farmed all the mats already so it's basically free for me. Now if I would just stop getting crappy rolls every time I run Shattered Halls and it drops (3 loses as of this weekend, not 1 roll over 35, so sad).

Khalane, that site is awesome, works great, exactly what I was looking for, thanks a ton.

Edit: I just had to say it again because it deserves that much praise, that site is awesome. Going to link it in my sig it is so good.

No, math wouldn't back you up. They're the same speed, but the gun has almost 10 dps more. The bow is a lot more bang for the buck, but it's nowhere near as good.

In Ieatrocks defence, I don't think he was saying the gun wasn't better. I think he was basing it on the cost of the weapons. The Destroyers average median price(on alla) is 1400g. The cost of Valanos' Crossbow, cost me 25g on auction. So going by DPS/Cost has Valanos > Destroyer.

But as far as the weapons themself go, no question about it the Destroyer is much much better. And especially for someone like me that just farmed the mats casually while questing(except that damn nether, may think about paying the group to be able to need the next one that drops if it isn't a guild run), it was no question in my mind to go with the Destroyer. But if someone has to pay that kind of money for the item, you can get a good bow, for so much less money.

Meh. 1475G=/=10DPS (G-BKD is 1500 easy on my server). Over the course of a prince fight you're talking, what, 6-7K more damage dealt? Meh. I'd rather have the int than the stam too. If you're getting hit in kara you're probably dead already, at least past the first floor.

Either way I wouldn't spend too much time deciding between the two if you already have the gun made, though I wouldn't go out my way to make it. There are three very nice ranged weps in Kara anyway so unless your luck sucks you'll probably be replacing it in a couple of weeks anyway.
