I have read the FAQ, and I am new to Hunters but not new to WoW (have a lvl 70 Mage). I was wondering how long you have to have a pet before you can "teach" its initial abilities to your other pets.

What loyality level etc does the "new" pet have to be. For instance I want to teach my cat claw 3 from the ashenvale bear, do I have to have claw 2, 1 etc?

Also how long will it take before I will be able to teach it? Loyalty 6?

Sorry if these were answered in the FAQ, but I could not find them.

It doesn't matter. Say you tame a boar and you have a cat that has claw, you can't teach that boar claw becasue it is a boar. If an animal can learn an ability then it will come with that ability when it is tamed. Here, this site is good for everything that has do to do with pets. Petopia.com Good luck.

I understand that it will come with the ability, my question is when can I teach that ability to another pet. For instance I have a cat right now. When I tame the bear how long do I have to wait before I can teach the cat "Claw 3"?

You keep the Bear and fight with it until your Hunter learns "Claw 3" from the Bear. This usually takes two or three combats but sometimes will happen in the first combat. Some abilities like Prowl and Dash seem take a little longer but the combat abilities get learned pretty fast. It seems to work best for me to turn off any other abilities that the animal might have and just leave the one I want my Hunter to learn on auto-cast.

Also, I didn't know if this was because of my personal setting or not, but my chat log got a message "You have learned claw rank 3" It was marked in yellow.

Do you even know wth you are talking about?

Just because a pet can learn a specific ability, does not mean he comes with it. For instance, you can tame a pet that has Prowl 3, but that pet doesnt have Claw or Dash, but he can learn both of those abilities.

Oh, and here is the site link:
