Hit 40 yesterday on my enhancement shaman and picked up StormStrike. I wasn't sure how an ability that instantly attacks with both weapons would benefit me without duel wield, but when your two-hander takes 3.4 seconds to swing, an instant swing every ten seconds is quite nice.
Also, I didn't want the Draenei Racial Mount, so I grinded rep with SW to exalted...which is hard to do without the repeatable cloth turn in quest. Finally made it with a couple of quests in Theramore and dinged 41 in the process and picked up duel wield.
My question is this: do any of the weapons have an advantage over another? Meaning maces over axes, or do I just need to focus on weapon stats? I picked up two maces and need to level them up so they can hit for more than 5.

you want to aim for 2 slow weapons, my shaman currently has the Heaven's light wich is great with a 2.7 speed and wirt's 3rd leg wich isnt that great with 2.3 attack speed.....
Though from 37-43 there are only 6 1H weapons a shaman can use that are slower then 2.2 and 1 of them is a healer weapon...
And all of them are Maces.
edit: i'm talking about rare weapons here though, there are probably some more options if you go for green ;)

I think those are the exact weapons I got for mine...3rd Leg for sure, and another rare mace with a slow speed, which I think was Heaven's Light. Can't check until the weekend though...no internet at home :(
