ok comes to the question i've tryed looking online here some. but from PERSONAL expeance, is faster weapon better than slower for holding agro as a tank? see i'm wanting http://thottbot.com/i17943 i have http://thottbot.com/i17705 and i also have http://thottbot.com/i13014. i'm thinking of putting crusader on one of them but dont wanna do it if it ends up sucking to tank with. so far i've stuck with swords under 2.0 cause of reckoning. i was sorta thinking the slower for when i have a mixed group when soloing melee and casters i will hit harder to hopefully take out casters faster. sorry for bugging ya'll i know this has probaly been asked many times already. thanks for any information in advance

i haven't seen it posted to many times, but since you're getting your threat from holy damage rather than white damage, and SoR procs every hit, you'd want a faster weapon to maximize SoR procs. its possible i'm wrong since my tanking experience is mostly ret spec tanking pre-tbc. its what i worked towards when tanking though. if any more experience tankadin wants to elaborate that might be helpful.

i was thinking along the same lines as you. but wanted some personal trials and errors. i just ran sfk for a buddy who wanted the blues since he had the old style and i dont think i like the slower weapon.

For some reason the third link isn't working for me, but of the first 2 I'd use the mace. Yes, faster weapons are better, right around 1.8-2 second speed. This is for a couple reasons: 1) quickly building threat with SoR and 2) getting all extra attacks with Reckoning. The slower weapons generally hit harder, but that's a moot point for Paladins since so little threat comes from white damage.

It's of worth to note that slower weapons cause SoR to do more holy damage. Faster weapons allow you to build threat more consistently since if a mob parries or you miss, your next attack comes quicker. Because slower weapons cause more white AND holy damage, you want a weapon that can JUST get in 4 hits before reckoning fades.

Your buddy either fails at looking at his tooltips or fails as a buddy. All the blues auto-upgraded. Nobody has the old style.

Exactly, which is why 1.8-2 sec speed is what you want to look for. Anything faster would be overkill (underkill? whatever) gimping your Seal/white damage more than necessary and anything slower may not allow (depending on when it procs) Reckoning to get all its swings in/take longer than necessary to build up sufficient threat. Yes slower weapons hit for more, thus building more threat, it also takes longer for that threat to be incurred, and we all know how much DPS classes LOVE to 'wait' for aggro to be established.

Faster is generaly better. Reason is this. If you get a miss with a faster weapon it doesn't hurt your threat as much. Mid speed is best for reckoning but I forget the exact speed at the moment. First imo
