I am working on my shammy for pvp/arena. I am going to go with an elemental/resto build. For your water tote is healing totem worth it? specifically in arena. And is it worth it to take 5 points in restorative totems? I dont know the exact time for a typical 2v2 arena fight, maybe 2 minutes? And i dont know how much a healing totem puts out every tick.

Any ideas or experience with this could help alot.

If you see a hunter or rogue in your fight, you'll probably want to keep your poison cleansing totem down. It only procs every 5 seconds though, so you'll probably need to use your other poison to keep cleansed.

I'd take the points to get your mana tide totem though, some fights do last some time and it would come in handy(although it's animation does give it away some...). Especially against those nasty priests who'll mana burn you down.

In arena I'd actually prefer the mana totem over healing if there's no rogues nearby. Your partner(dpser) will probably be out of range to receive the healing buff anyhow.

Fight durations vary depending on the class combos you go up against, most are fairly quick, but some drag on. This one time my team(one dpser, one healer) went up against a Holy Paladin & a Resto Shaman. Needless to say the fight lasted a VERY long time. We did end up winning in the end, but it was quite painful on how long it took to take them down.

If you're restoration spec'd, then it's much more mana efficient to chain-cast Poison Cleansing Totem. It's cheaper than Cure Poison if you have at least 3 points in Totemic Focus (or whatever it's called...>.<).

Cure Poison: 203 Mana
Poison Cleansing Totem with 3 points in Totemic Focus (or w/e): 200 mana

3 mana may not be a lot, but hell, it sure is easier to cast your totem and also dispel any poisons that may be on your partners than to slowly target all of your parnters and Cure Poison them manually.

To the OP: If I don't see a hunter/rogue, I'll usually keep up Mana Spring Totem, Mana Tide Totem when the CD is up, or even that ol' level 50 class quest trinket, Ancestral Mana Spring Totem (I switch out trinkets by going ooc when I can and drinking/chaning gear).

And you should definitely take the 5 points in Restorative Totems. They're quite useful, especially in PvE. Either way...it's the pre-requisite for Mana Tide Totem. So you kinda have to get them! ;)
