Hey guys, I'm planning on making my lock a 39 twink. This is everything I've come up with so far. Any suggestions for improvements on gear or enchants?

SLOT/ITEM/ENCHANT
MH/Hypnotic Blade/Major Spellpower (+40 Spell Damage)
OH/Umbral Crystal/-
Gloves/Black Mageweave Gloves/Rugged Armor Kit (+40 Armor)
Chest/Robe of Doan/Exceptional Health (+150 hp)
Legs/Stoneweaver Leggings/Thick Armor Kit (+32 Armor)
Head/Whitemane's Chapeau/-
Feet/Defiler's Cloth Boots/Enchant Boots - Fortitude (+12 stamina)
Wrist/-/Enchant Bracer - Fortitude (+12 stamina)
Back/Battle Healer's Cloak/Enchant Cloak - Major Armor (+120 armor)
Shoul./Mantle Of Doan/-
Ring1/Blazing Citrine Ring/-
Ring2/Ring of Golden Power/-
Trink1/Defiler's Talisman/-
Trink2/Figurine - Jade Owl/-

Grand Totals:
Armor- 552
Stamina- 88 (15 from enchant)
+Spell Damage- 101
+Shadow Damage- 17
+Spell hit- 9
Intelligence- 42
Spirit- 64

Some of the Items may need improvement, and thats mainly why I came here. Also I need help on which spec to take. Its very tough with 30 points. Just soo many combos to each tree and all that. Any Ideas there too?

Thanks in advance!

im not at all experienced in twinking, but +120 armor on cloak seems a little dubious. are there no int/stam/shadow dmg enchants?

Enchant Cloak - Spell Penetration

and definitely either clefthide leg armor (for stam) or mystic spellthread for the legs.

I can see the spell penetration on cloak, but the mystic spell thread and clefthide leg armor require level 60, so im a few lvls shy.

No they don't. They require a level 60 character to apply them to the pants.

the clefthide as stated before onyl requires lvl 60 to attach it to the pants, and believe me, the 30 stam from that, (and 10 agil on my warrior twink) Is worth every bit of the 50-65gold you will pay for it, Just make sure that the pants you plan to attach it to are BOE, as it will nto work on BOP items. (im not sure if stoneweaver are bop or boe sorry)

Stoneweaver are BoP, so I can just replace those with a green from the AH.

Looks like I'm almost set. I'm still missing a spec. I was thinking something like this for survivability via sacced VW, gains from imp LT and Soul Siphon, and Demonic Embrace. I've also been looking at full 30 points in one of the 3 for Shadow Mastery, Master Demonologist, or imp immolate/ruin. Any thaughts?

You know honestly I was expecting "if you can read this then you need to get a life" but your quote was quite amusing.

FOr a pair of boe legs, i suggest tyhe necromancer's leggings, they are a blue boe world drop with (not positive on stats) +10 stam some int and some shadow damage, costs about 60g on ah and combined with clefthide, the stam comes to +40 which = 400 extra health for the life taps and everything.

Don't like your spec much but that's up to you.

For Survivability you need STA, STA you're lacking bad on your itemset.

I was insane at 39 (often top Damage charts in AB) and had very little +spell. For Damage all it takes is DoTing everything around you, for KBs all it takes is SBs or DL (I prefer DL but it draws a bit more attention.)

I'd either go Full Affliction or Full Demo. Get 5/5 Shadow Mastery or 5/5 Master Demo with Succy out. lol they do the same thing anyways.

With Affliction use CoEx on any trouble makers (Amp it if they're REAL trouble makers.) Fear works good also for getting the worst off you, but most of the time it's not necessary.

Here's a quick bit of STA stuff I could find, though.

Robes of the Lich
Necromancer Leggings - Spellthread if you got the Cash
Deathmage Sash
Silky Spider Cape
Revelosh's Gloves - obnoxious to get, worth it if you plan to stay 39
Triune Amulet

Theres alot more but I gotta go sleep now... class in the mornin.

Keep in mind you can find survivability through STA, not just a "sacced VW", and with a good gearset in general you will not have trouble topping any charts.

yeah, as stated by me and tz, necromancer leggins are the way to go for 39 twinks, with spell thread or clefthide they will be perfect.

49 twinks are great soul fire crits are crazy.
39 bracket all i gotta say is Affliction FTW, DoT up as many as you can and if they kill you your dots still run their course so you rack up damage and get HK's.
And well Syphon life is one of the best spells as it allows you to regain health.
I do recommend using the VW at that lvl because sacrifice seems almost invaluable when those few seconds can be the difference between you being dead or your SL/drain life putting you at max health again.

Also look for a Staff of Jordan for nice stats and something to put a +40 spell damage enchant on. The Hypnotic Blade is a great weapon, but at level 34, it's not outlands-enchantable.
#18 Nov 30 2007 at 9:13 AM Rating: Decent
isn't the item lvl of hypnotic blade 39? so technically it would qualify for the lvl 35 and above items
it says req to use is 34 but actual item lvl i think is 39
#19 Nov 30 2007 at 9:58 AM Rating: Default
Hypnotic Blade is a Req Level 34 Item - it is made this way on purpose so that it can not be enchanted with 35+ enchants. Just like many great weapons are level 20 or 30 or just out of reach of a BG Bracket -- Items are made this way on purpose to narrow down what you can use and when.

Staff of Jordan is indeed a good staff, quite a pretty penny though -- if you can even find one for sale. While not quite as good, you may also choose to get either Illusionary Rod and use the +30 or get the 38 Warsong Staff (very good Lock stats) and put +40 on it.

Advisor's Gnarled Staff
Lorekeeper's Staff
Illusionary Rod

If you're going for all out twinkage though, Staff of Jordan (+40) is the way to go.

VW in BG is debated as his Sacrafice spell is very handy but to a good Fliction lock would only be a 1 shot about 25% increased survivability. This is pretty situational, and can also eats through Shards quickly. Using Succy is also situational, but for completing events and for defense the this pet can come in very, very handy. This is mostly a personal choice. If you're Demology and want to be doing shadow damage, use Master Summoner + Succubus (what I meant in my above post.) Demonic Sacraficing will eat through shards.

Shoulders need Upgrade:
Stonecloth Epaulets
Berylline Pads
Lunar Mantle of the Eagle/of Stamina

For bracers get something with STA and INT:
Radiant Silver Bracers, Aurora Bracers, Darkspear Cuffs, ect. You could also go for Glowing Magical Bracers for 8 int +4 spell, but the STA will serve you better.

Rings:
Advisor Ring/Lorekeeper's Ring [38]
Golden Ring of Power

Hat:
Whitemane's is good, also consider Miner's Hat of the Deep
