Spell critical strike?Follow

How important is spell critical strike rating for holy priests? Does it apply to damage and healing or just damage? Any help would be appreciated. :)

Crit is useful but shouldnt be your first priority of attributes to grab.

Hard to give a good answer not knowing your level and spec, but at level 70 if you are healing +heal and +int and +spirit/mp5 are your stats to go for. For a 70 SP, +damage, +hit (to cap), +int and then +crit.

Whilst healing spells can crit (and if spec'd might give an armor boost) crits arent as benefical to a holy priest as they are to a pally. Whilst damage spells can crit, only mind blast and sw:d would receive the bigger boost to this stat (leaving swp, vt, and flay rarely affected).

If spell crit is on your gear, it's fine. It's an added bonus. But Holy Priests should never rely on criticals for good healing, because crits generally end up being overheals and get wasted.

Although its not top of the priority list, it is nice to have if you are a surge of light smiting priest.

Critical strike is bottom of the priority for all priest specs - shadow, arena healing, raiding healing, smite. In arena and raiding healing, luck healing=bad. A little boost to crit if gear is otherwise an upgrade is fine, beyond that I'd avoid it. For shadow, best-case it's six times worse than raw +dmg and in reality more like 8-10 times worse. The closest is smitespec: while +dmg actually is the best for raw dps increases, crit is the efficiency of the build and cant' be ignored (but +dmg is still better).
