Ok, im trying to decide on what i should get, Ravager or Snow Leperod. I'm a horde so either one is a bit of a walk.

If you dont like the look of the snow leopard, then take a ravager. (ravagers do a LITTLE more damage) Boars are real nice for leveling though since they get to the target so much faster and live a little longer than most pets. Any boar will work, as long as it has charge.
Most important thing is to like your pet! A wolf has it's advantages (friendly aoe dmg buff), along with birds (enemy aoe dmg debuff), and plenty more. I stuck with my Ghost Saber from 20-70 (leveling some up inbetween, but never stuck with them) and still use it for groups.
Check out Petopia and find one you like.

Humar the Pridelord, level 23 rare spawn black lion in the Barrens. He spawns in the shdow of the big tree surrounded by liions just Northwest of Ratchet. He is the only Black Lion in the game, so if you plan on getting a cat, get him, otherwise go for a Ravager, but they are only in the Draenai starting area and in Outlands so either way you're screwed.

Humar FTW

I dont believe in existence of people that would prefer ravager over a cat for looks.

Petopia, great place to be for a hunter. I use it all of the time, just for fun sometimes.

Guards on the boats? Huh?

Oh, get a BOAR!

OINK!

Consider a Ghostsaber if you want a see-through leopard. Look him up in bestiary. They are lvl 19 or so.

Iponema! Im suprised. I would have thought you would have seen that.

Every boat has people on it now. at least 3 or 4 in each area onboard. good luck getting on the boat to Asuremyst Isle without getting killed at least 2 times... onboard. :P

Get a cat and a boar for leveling up. You do not want a ravager until later on, as there is a large gap in Gore.

Level 4 Gore: Learned from a level 24 critter.

Level 7 Gore: Learned from a level 48 critter.

Gore 5 and Gore 6 do not exist in the game.

I recommend a boar for leveling up, as charge grants your pet a huge amount of aggro, giving you much more time to shoot from afar. The gap from Gore 4 to Gore 7 will be a handicap, but one I think you can overcome.

Use the cat for grouping. Those you group with will appreciate the extra DPS. Don't start thinking that your boar can tank instances for your groups, because the day is fast approaching when it cannot, may as well not get into any bad habits.

Keep both pets both at or near you level. Granted, it is more difficult to control aggro when you hunt with a cat than a boar, but you need to learn aggro control sometime, and better younger than older.

Keep your third stable slot open for temporary pets that you can learn skills from. See Petopia for more details.

Once you are in Outlands, it will be easy and painless to switch from the cat to the Ravager if you so choose. They are just too ugly for me to do it. Just play a pet you are happy with. Thats the important thing.

Nah, I'm not playing WoW right now. Taking a lil break. I just get sick of it after a while and have to do something else. Then I get these ugly shakes and cravings... and I go back to Azeroth....

We forgot to say "go to Petopia!" to this poster!

Bah, I'm getting rusty.

Brashendeavors.net.

And do get a boar - get that nasty old sow near Lakeshire, Bellygrub. And name her JessicaSimpson. Or BritnySpears. Or HillaryClinton.

Boars FTW!

I have Princess... on three different toons >.>. I love that boar. Charge also stuns which is very fun in PvP. While there is a gap for Gore, they still have bite, which in my opinion still gives them an edge over mid level ravagers.

That and I can stand the sound the ravagers make >.<.

If you want a kitty Humar is a great looking cat, and one of a kind. Echeyakee is like the white version of Humar, but is only level 16 and spawned from a horde only quest. I'm a big fan of the cats around Silvermoon including the Ghostclaw Ravager who have glowing eyes.

As mentioned, go to Petopia. And get a boar.

:D

I would suggest a bird, Owls have dps bonus as do bats, Carrion birds have an armor bonus. All three can learn screech and dive, claw, maybe bite (not sure about that). Plus the fact that screech generates some AOE aggro. So if you are fighting three or four things, you can toss a heal to your pet and not worry about taking aggro on a few of them.

As everyone has said a boar is a great leveling pet, Turn off charge if you plan on doing some CC though.

I use a Owl for almost everything when i am soloing, screech is great as is the small damage bonus owls get. The fact that i can have him on three things, one trapped and safely and easily kill all of them while keeping constant heals on him is great! I use a cat for PvP and normal instance runs, if **** hits hard i will bring the owl for the screech debuff. My third pet is a warp stalker, i just like him and think he is kinda fun. They come with an armor bonus so if i am fighting higher level things one at a time i will use him.

The most importannt thing is just get a pet you like, any pet can and will fill all roles if you know wtf you are doing.
