look through the posts, leveling fury can be real fun with a 2h and 2/2 imp slam.

with the sweeping strikes change to fury, it would have to be the way to go.

a big 2H plus imp slam, sweeping strikes, flurry, and bloodthirst would have to outdamage deathwish, weapon spec, and mortal strike now for leveling up, especially since you can get cruelty along the way.

i used to mow through mobs with sweeping strikes, mortal strike, and cleave.... sweeping strikes plus imp slam would have to be frigging insane for grinding.

Based on my recent experience trying 2h Fury at 41, I didn't get the impression it was as good as Arms at that point. However after getting +hit in Outlands at 61, dual wield Fury has definitely been an increase in DPS.

EDIT:
I should add that not only has Fury "been an increase in DPS" at 61, but it's outright made my warrior fun as hell to play! Dual Wield Fury is such a freaking blast compared to Arms - if only they'd give Warriors some +hit Plate sooner so it could be viable earlier on...

And to give some actual reasons I felt 2h Fury was junk at 41:
-Not enough crit/attack speed to Flurry frequently
-Rampage is totally junk for the same reason; at that level you just can't crit fast enough to keep it up reliably.
-Lack some key talents that seemed to offset bad itemization in old content: Poleaxe mastery, 2H mastery, imp overpower, and imp charge.
-Also lacking was Parry, which is particularly excellent for 2handers because a parry resets your swing timer (makes you swing faster). However this is less an issue because as Arms I grabbed Cruelty (fury) fairly early - which is kinda the same as grabbing 5% Parry in a heavy Fury build.

On plus side, the things I felt were good about Fury at 41:
-Commanding Presence is good at offsetting bad itemization.
-Imp Slam is great for 2handers.

o.O

2h + rampage on a 3.5+ attack speed weapon ftl. also, relying on flurry procs at <25% crit ftl. you read into the build incorrectly.

when you level 2h fury, you're supposed to use 2/2 imp slam, not work your way down to bloodthirst and rampage. BT !> MS until 3k AP anyway.

slam works based on weapon damage, just like MS, except the bonus damage is lower and there is no healing debuff... but unlike MS, there is no 6 second cooldown, and if you have the rage for it you can spam that sucker with only gcd slowing you down.

when i was farming last night/leveling my 2h mace skill (just crafted myself a Thunder), i actually spent most of the time in battle stance. charge > MS > slamslamslam (rage permitting). MS would crit for 1500 or so, then slam would crit for slightly lower again, and again, and again =) the highest crit i got with it was 1928.

I certainly understand the advantage of combining Imp Slam and a 2-Hander. Like I said in my updated post, that's exactly the "upside" of Fury I was trying to capitalize on.

I suppose where it breaks down is the fact that you're still eating 0.5 sec of your time Slamming, which slows rage generation slightly. The "benefit" to Slam is that it's not limited by a cooldown, but in my experience leveling I didn't have much of an abundance of rage in the gear you get while leveling 1-60. Granted, this was a new server so I was more frugle with upgrades and didn't purchase too many blues.

As gear is 'maximized' at any given level, I could see Slam's value being considerably higher.

Mostly just seems like a miscommunication with making 2h + 2/2 Imp Slam sound like a lot of fun without clarifying that a Fury build involves a bit more tact than spamming Arms talents, due to many of them being very gear-reliant or dual wield-reliant.

key to efficient grinding: don't execute

just wait for that last auto attack or two... you'll end the fight with 25-30 rage

charge one mob = +15 rage
autoattack mob 1 = +8-9 rage
run towards mob 2, autoattack = +8-9 rage
pull mob 2 back towards mob 1
walk backwards a bit till they're both in front of you and voila!
you've got two mobs on you with 60+ rage...
pop sweeping strikes!

sweeping strikes is the single most underrated warrior talent, imho.

with a slow 2H weapon it does good good things for your dps.
