Hi there,I'm fairly new to 70 Paladin tanking, been prot all the way, with minor level or two sojourns to retribution. My list of achievements isnt' that long,Shadow Labs about 3 times or so,Black Morass about 3,but due to weird connection and ill-timed spirit releases I still dont have the quest done>.<.The Mechanar, which I am very proud of,as it was my first level 70 instance and just today,Steam-Vault.

Anyway,Ive read lots and lots of things on paladin tanking, still have to devote some time some day to learning the theory-craft,it tends to bored the pants off of me at the moment though I know the basics.

My Question basically is:Is

(Which finally dropped for me today off of Murmur, the *******)

better than

For a tanking Paladin?

from what all i read on here you want about 200 spell damage i havent seen too much on hit rateing for spell. but seeing with the GHD you have 215 bonus damage and the other sword is only 9 less i think you could go with the other one due to the sta bonus it has over it i mean thats 15 sta before all the tallents and kings or what ever you like to use. i personaly would use it. but then again thats comeing from a 46 pally. maybe someone else would like to toss some info in i just saw 19 peeps looked at it and no replys.

i'd reccomend continuum blade as long you get the +40 spell damage and have some wizard oil. the stam is worth it.

Continuum Blade > Greatsword of Horrid Dreams. As stated, the 15 more Stamina far outweighs the extra spell damage of GHD. If you can though Crystalforged Sword is even better still.

Seconded. The Continuum Blade is better, but the Crystalforged Sword (http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=32660;source=live) is better than both.

I've done most instances on heroic, run kara and looked through the pala loot on every website that lists it many many times. Unfortunatly, it seems there really isn't a better tankadin weapon in the game at the moment. There are better tanking swords, but none that offer what a tankadin weapon needs, spell power and stamina.

It is far easier to stack defensive stats on armour and get an enchanted caster sword to basically cover all of your spelldamage needs. There is plenty of great tanking gear without spelldamage, and if you get spell damage tanking armour you will get less defensive benefits from it.

Tankadin wise, the Continuum blade is the best caster weapon because it has the highest stamina, one of the major things holding tankadins back from MT in raids. I have the King's defender at the moment, but still can't tear myself away from the CB.....

Shame, the Great Sword looks awesome, and the Continuum blade is so 'meh' looking :(

Edit: The Crystalforged Sword is probably the best tankadin weapon (extra shield block), but it's a bugger to get and generally goes for a fortune on the AH (damn the time I missed it for 250g)....

Yea Crystalforged Sword is a pain to get generally speaking, so in its absence, the Continuum Blade is a great alternative. Either way it'll most likely be the weapon of choice for a Tankadin until Akil'zon in ZA or (Lurker? Leo?) one of the bosses in SSC, I forget right off hand.
