I have heard reports that Feign Death drinking has been removed in patch 2.3, does anyone know for sure yet?

Feign Death drinking has been removed in patch 2.3.

Feign Death does not get you out of combat in Boss fights anymore, just as Vanish does not for Rogues and Invisibility does not for Mages.

Sadly, they did it to stop people from switching Trinkets in the middle of a boss fight, and this is just an unfortunate side-effect.

Oh well, I'm not too bugged by it. It wasn't something that was intended through the use of those skills, and not everyone can do it.

I guess we'll have to rely more on MP/5 gear, recipes and Mana oil.

2.3.2 we're getting a big Aspect of the Viper buff, so we'll be ok without.

This might have been a bad dream or something, but i remember a blue post on the O boards saying the max effect of AotV was moving from 50%-55%.

I'm sitting at 250ish int, so this would be a max of 12.5mp/5 increase.

50% would be 125 mp/5. 55% would be 137.5 mp/5. That's a ton of mp/5 to begin with and can easily get you through until a potion cooldown is up.

A big buff sounds more like 10-20% over the normal 50%. +12.5mp/5 makes me a happy hunter, but it doesnt necessarily make me a hunter which is never oom. It will help bridge between cds but it wont make mana pots unnecessary.

I personally hate AotV, wish they would give us a more passive skill with added talents.

Other classes would love AotV over... say Frost Armor (damn useless during a boss). I'd prefer the frost armor over AotM or even Hawk in PvP, but Viper rocks in raids or 5-mans with no mages.

Well, there are some extra things that you can use to help keep your mana up.

1. Mark of Conquest A lot of you probably have a better trinket in terms of DPS, but depending on the speed of your bow, that can average out to around 20 mp/5, and it still gives a nice boost to your AP.

2. Superior Mana Oil. Really cheap for enchanters to make, and each oil has 5 chargers that last for an hour and lasts through death. That's another 12mp/5, and you don't have to sacrifice putting something better on your melee weapon, because what else do we ever use? Sharpening Stones? Oh, and if you happen to Dual Wield, you can put it on both melee weapons, but not your ranged.

3. Blackened Sporefish. I'd really only suggest this if you find yourself running low on Mana fast. It's 8 mp/5 and +20 spirit, but if you're desperate enough to replace Ravager Dogs or Warp Burgers with this, you should probably re-evaluate your gear and shot rotation. Anyway, I fish up the zangarian sporefish in Zangarmarsh with a base skill of 250+. The lake around the Cenarion Outpost requires 305 total fishing. Also a great place to catch food if your pet eats fish.

Come to think of it, with the Mana oil and Mark of Conquest, I was able to get through a Nightbane fight with only 1 Mana pot. I can't remember if I was using AotV... I might have switched back and forth.

I've actually switched to AotV from AotH for general adventuring. The damage drop is noticeable but the lack of mana drop is worth it, especially in Netherstorm where nearly everything sucks your mana dry. Darned mana vampires!

If I was in for any extended fight, I'd be on AotV. I know that probably drives the "dps only" crowd bonkers, but considering the loss of dps may extend the fight a shot or two, no biggie. If you're barely winning boss-fights, like me, you probably need the extra practice anyway! :p

Ran UB with AotV on the whole time, never had to drink once. Nobody was pressed for dps or time so it was an easy run.

Yes it does. I did it against both nightbane and prince in kara this weekend and against gruul on sunday. There's a much greater chance for resists but it still works. On that note, my guild killed gruul for the first time on sunday. 2 shotted High King, 3 shotted Gruul. Too bad I got none of the loot.

Thus why mages, during boss fights, use Mage Armor which increases their mana regeneration :)

Yes, use Sharpening Stones, Adamantite or Higher to be exact, why? + Crit :)

Are those bugged to count for ranged crit? The description specifically says Melee. If it lasts through death, I can see those being useful for PvP, but not for raiding or even solo grinding.
