Hello, this will be my first post on the mage forums. Yes, I've read the stickies but they still left me with a couple of questions (the talents listed leaned more towards PvP than PvE so I felt I needed to ask). I've also sifted through a few other posts as to get a vague idea of what I should be doing but little luck there.

Anyway, here goes.

I'm currently lvl 30 and specced Fire, I have pyro and all that goodness but I've really been interested in the Frost tree. I liked it's survivability, critical bonuses, and AoE grinding capabilities and figured I should go for it.

But I've also been hearing that it's a bad idea to do so until lvl 40 or so.

So here is my build for my next lvl, since I'm mostly having to solo everything I'm not taking Frost channeling until later lvl's, I've also heard that Frostbite can make AoE grinding... difficult.

And this is what I think my lvl 40 build should look like. Just trying to get as much damage out of it as I can from the lvl 31 spec.

Any and all critique or aid is greatly appreciated.

Edit: Didn't link my builds! Silly Jon.

well only having my mage to lv47 myself i might not be the right person to give advice but here it goes

you have an idea very similar to mine it seems. eventho aow grinding isnt very efficient right now(with quests giving the crapload of xp it does) but its still nice to have the option ever now and then to spice it up alitle, so didnt take frostbite myself either.

however looking at your build there are a few things i would consider.

frost chaneling, anything that lessens mana cost is a good thing in my book.
i really would pick up elemental precition, getting resisted is the nasty part about playing a caster in wow, anything thta lessens those times is my friend.

artic reach is also one i wouldnt be without, extra reach is good.

you would prob also want to pick up permafrost, more sloweffect on mobs=one extra bolt before you have to move.

winters chill i think you can skip. when soloing i doubt youll be able to stack it up to beeing very helpfull, altho not quite sure on this one.

Mate. Neither try is particularly bad / good. It really depends on what you enjoy. With my Mage, I spec-d frost at 20 and loved it. People would be saying I was a n00b etc. but at the end of the day, its my game, my money, and I still topped the DM in instances :)

Either way, if you want to go Frost. Go frost. You have to level the character, so you might as well enjoy it!

Tindaar has done the talent tree issues. Nice :)
