Hi all. I started a mage a while back and I can say all "this class is better than that class" aside I fully enjoy playing one. I'm currently specced fire and planned on sticking with it up to 70, but I've been hearing a little more about arcane. I always though arcane was kinda the "pickup" talent tree with useful things but nothing worth speccing into. My assumptions and information could be wrong. I plan to level up and stay back and hammer damage in groups, should I give arcane another look?

from what I have seen/experienced arcane is almost always the utility tree that gives more power to the other ones -- until you get to the Tier5 instances and can have two-pieces for the set bonus that is.

I am spec'ed deep arcane now (without the T5 set bonus) for 3 reasons. 1) (and most importantly) Until our tanks get better geared, I can do more dps as arcane with the threat reduction than I would be able to do because of threat. 2) Slow rocks in PvP 3) POM->AP->Pyro is fun too, but more fun is arcane missiles that crit for 1.5K per hit.
