2 pet questionsFollow

Hi,

I have two pet questions which I could not directly seem to find on the forums and help links for hunters..

So here it goes:

1) Loyalty level on pet how exactly does this work? I just tamed a lvl 62 ravager and it took me 2 days to get him into lvl 2 (this happend in an instance), but the weird thing is it took him only like 2min to get to lvl 3 (in the same instance)

So how exactly do you "speed up" the proces of loyalty leveling or is that not possible? Further more are there any meters avaible to show how much your pet still needs to gain another level?

2) About the same pet (ravager lvl 62), I tamed him with him knowing the ability's gore (rank 8) and bite (rank 8). If I now later on unlearn my pet ability's to train higher level armor and health skills (due to TP) will I have to pay up the TP for gore and bite? I would asume yes but Im not to sure...? So if I have to pay up the TP is it then better for me to wait till my pet hits 70 and then spend all TP having a max use of my TP or what do you advice?

Kind regards

1) Your pet gains loyalty spending time at your side well fed. More so fighting than trying to steal a peak over the Auction House counter.
The 2 minutes to lvl 3 thing was most probably due to you not paying attention.

2) I'm a wee bit drunk, so I don't quite understand your question, but:
TP=(Loyalty level-1) x (Pet level). If your pet starts out with Gore and Bite, it will have negative Training Points at loyalty level 1. In the end, it doesn't matter, you will pay for your pets abilities equally no matter what it had when you trained it. Nevermind, someone else will explain.

Edit: Cleaned up last nights typos and misspellings.

Thanks for the reply

So excessive combat will make my pet gain faster loyalty thanks
And about the 2 minutes well it might have been max 5 but i was suprised how fast it went... Could it have something to do with the fact that my pet is allrouding every target taking agro to it self?

And about the TP, you are right it started with - TP when i tamed him, I was wondering what the reason was behind that but now I know

TP = (loyalty lvl -1) x (petlevel)
So for your pet its (3-1) x 62 = 124, minus any costs for abilities.

As far as the loyalty level goes, it has been asked before, and no one seems to know for sure how it is calculated. Fighting makes it go quicker, it seems, although the rate is in question. My two examples of loyalty level in action:

1 - I was perusing all of the info on the new ghost wolf, and someone said the pet didn't gain a loyalty level until they had increased the actual level from 30 to 45. Granted, it will level relatively quickly in that range, so this probably isn't as long a time as it seems.

2 - I recently leveled a wolf from 67 to 69 before I abandoned it to get the ghost wolf. The 67 wolf was at loyalty level 5 before it hit level 68, and hit loyalty level 6 one bubble into 68.

For the second question - normally, if you unlearn all of your pet's abilities, you would have to re-train any abilities. If you acquire a pet that has abilities built in, such as your ravager, they will still be there after it unlearns everything, and the points will automatically be spent. There is no way to free up the training points on a pet like this. But bite and gore don't cost may points anyway, so it isn't a big deal.

It could be just me, but i'm fairly sure that what you're saying here is bullshit.
Because when i trained my Scorpid (lvl 69 one in SMV) it had a high lvl Fire resistance and Scorpid Poison 5.
I unlearned those and had the normal 350 TP to spend once it was at loyalty lvl 6.

You have the right of it. When you unlearn a pet, it returns completely to basics, all training points restored.

I know that I saw something a while back where somebody claimed to have worked out what was required for pet loyalty gains to within like a 90% margin. I'll look around and see what I can dig up. IIRC it was a combination of time, time spent happy or neutral, and a %of the xp needed for the hunter to level (or the theoretical xp for a hunter at 70). In any case I look around and see if I can find it.

Edit: wtf? When and why did I become blue?

Edit part deux: Found what I was looking for, http://www.maniasarcania.com/2007/09/10/loyalty-gain-time-and-experience/

Huh, well, you guys got me. I want to say it used to be that way...I tamed a scorpid some time ago that came with a high rank of natural armor, and I thought I couldn't get rid of it. I might be imagining things. Disregard that part of my post, then.
