It worked, my signature showed up correctly, but I can't delete it. My apologies for cluttering up the forum! :-(

Next time, remember that:
1) you can edit but not delete a message,
2) in order to check your new sig, all it takes is for your to EDIT an existing message (which inserts your NEW sig).
