AP vs CritFollow

At what point should you start goin primarily for Crit instead of AP. Ive currently got 1988 AP selfbuffed (no poitions or food, only AoTH and Trueshot Aura) and 24%crit

I know that this subject must have been up and about several times but I cant find it. So if you know the answer plz just tell me or give me a hint of where I can find it.

When it comes to gemming your gear, the consensus is that around 300 tooltip dps, you can start exchanging AP gems with Agility gems. This will give you Attack Power combined with Crit, and raise both in a way that will mean higher DPS than pure AP would.

If you are talking about gearwise, I can't really remember. I know I saw it in a thread somewhere, but I can't truly recall which one. Wasn't too long ago though, so just check the first two pages of this forum. Skimming your way through them can't take much time.

Read new posts North!

Actually, it takes a while for crit to become better than AP. For warriors the cap is 4k, but I havn't done the math for hunters yet. It's safe to assume, however, that you won't be re-gemming in a hurry.

My advise is: always go for AP and agi primarily. If you get some CR on the bat; great!

Been reading the Gem thread and the advise there seems to be Hit rating until 136 and then AP.

But as for the issue enchants AP and Agi are the two adversarys. AP beeing the cheaper one. If I understand you I should choose Savagery over +35 Agi on 2-hand and Assault over Superior agility on Gloves.

If that is true it will save me a lot of gold.

With Master Marksman, i think AP would go further for marksman, but then again, pure AP scales to your pet's dps faster. I guess this all would throw off when you change your gems and enchants (and they dont seem to be considered in the gemming thread). but you wouldnt lose a whole lot of dps using agi at those numbers.

Speaken of that, look at my armory and tell me if I'm doing well for a SV hunter agi/ap/crit wise.

I believe unbuffed I have 25%ish crit, in a raid 35%.
650-700 agi unbuffed,700-800 in raid.
Ap between 1300-1500.

If I am BM this would be horribly bad, but for SV im not sure.

You're doing well, my friend... but I would try to get the AP up a bit. Agility wise you're right where you need to be, but there are a few things I'd suggest:

-24AP to bracers
-26AP to gloves (both these are cheap, think like 5g)
-Meta-socket in the helm when you get a chance (12 agi and +3 crit damage)
-Also, I see you're revered w/ Cenarion Expedition, so I'd pick up the glyph of ferocity as well since you'll be keeping the helm for a while.
-Since you're a skinner, get the mats for a cobrahide patch for your legs and have a LW craft those for you.

From those things alone, you'll pick up 100+AP which will help the DPS significantly =) Check out my armory if you want, too. I am by no means geared to the teeth, but might give a few ideas.

Also, I noticed you don't have Hawk on which accounts for some of it, too =) But this should push you over 1600!

I'm working on lvling my enchanting, so mats are sorta available but then they're not, because I really want to get 375.
I'm waiting on that gem till I get the blue gems for it.
Waiten on money for glyph, I'm to lazy for dailys.
To lazy to get cobrahide lol.

Eventually I will get inspired to do these lol.

Ty for help.

It's higher than that depending upon group composition, but... sure.

Aye, checked up the sticky (Me and Xordon did that post together, since he didn't know how to calculate break-points at the time).

The AP cap is at 4.6-6k. 6k if you've got 33% crit. This is for warriors though... don't know about hunters... yet.

It's actually 142 Hit Rating. Although 2.3 did make it easier for Dwarves and Trolls so long as they stick with using the weapon which matches their racial bonus.

Edit: And then AP.
