Improved Eviscerate Bugged?Follow

#1 Nov 23 2007 at 1:50 AM Rating: Decent
I have a level 48 Rogue and just picked up the improved evis. talents. They say "Increases the damage done by your eviscerate by 5%" for each of the three points, only it doesn't increase it by anywhere close to that much. For example, after seeing what it did the first two times, I check my eviscerate damage before choosing the talent and it was 650-727. After the talent it was 651-732...

Thats less than 1%...

What's going on?

depends on what level mobs you are hitting, if the mobs are 1-2 levels higher than you, they have more armor, so lower damage

I'm very surprised by your numbers. I have a MUCH wider range. Like a 5-pt Evisc for me in PvP ranges from like 5/600 to more than 2k. I guess it varies a LOT depending on the target armor, your buffs and that of the target, etc.

Also, a side note on Imp Evisc: it's not that great a talent, because it increases only that specific finisher which is not that much used (except for leveling). So, when you respec at 70, you might want to keep it out of your build. Just as an alternative, think of murder 2/2: a 2% damage increase on ALL hits (since most of your pvp targets are humans!) is better on the long run than Imp Evisc that only applies to Evisc, which you don't use that much in pvp.

Thanks guys, but I was talking about the actual tooltip for the ability. The numbers i listed where what my tooltip said for the damage with a 5 point combo, not something that I figured out by using it. It has nothing to do with enemy armor/defense.

And Nostraaa, I guess you're saying that for pvp you would always, or almost always be using Kidney Shot instead?

5pt KS is going to be infinitely more useful than a 5pt Evis.

Ok, good to know. I haven't leveled a Rogue past 50, which is where mine is at now.

..err cause you get kidney shot a lvl 50?

Evicerate is calculated off your total AP. have there been any changes to your ap?

Because I don't pvp on my level 50 rogue with a grinding spec. Thanks for being a smart *** when I even politely thanked the person for their advice.

No, there have been no changes to AP. I assumed that 5% meant 5%, not .2%.

Well about a year ago I took a rogue to 36. Currently I have a 55 rogue and I got Sub spec on both (I like it,leave me alone). I noticed that the tooltip for stealth still listed my speed at 35% of normal, but I still saw a speed increase. Maybe they didnt fix the tooltip... 2.3 fixed the speed if you're looking at the buff, but not the action tooltip. Nice of Blizz, eh?

Tooltips don't reflect talents most of the time. If you really think it's bugged, go test it. Get about 10 5 point eviscerates off on a friend of yours wearing no armor (gouge is a good way to build CPs for this), then do it again without the talent. You'll see about a 15% decrease.
