Can't wait to use this at

Illhoof, though if he decides that he wants to sacrifice you 3 times in a row there is not much you can do but scream for heals.

Aran, At least if you get targeted you can get some respite.

Lurker, at our first kill last week the bugger decided to geyser me to 437 hp. No chance to even react and HS was on CD due to me using mana gem >.< I hate him so much....

The iceblock is one of the best moves in the game except for maybe the paladin bubble. It is an aggro dump if you pull agro in an instance, it will kill any DOTS you have on you, you can't be hit while in it, you can be healed, your pet can still kill stuff, you can let your timers cooldown a bit, etc. I will state what I have found is the best uses it for I have found so far for both PvP and instances.

PVP:
Use it when you and your opponent are low health and your pet is out.
Use it right after being stunned by a rouge and are inflicted by poisons.
Use it to kill any DOTS a warlock or shadow priest puts on you.
Use it to hide from a mage that pops arcane power.
Use it when you are sheeped and wait until the mage casts a spell on you before it hits you.

Raids:
Use it when you pull aggro.
Use it when you get sacrificed by illhoof, or get hit with moroes garrote.
Use it when you are about to die and get someone to heal you for the most part.

Those are just a few of the examples I can think of for now, but are better than just saying "it sucks" and leaving it at that.

No, it does not dump aggro. It simply moves to the next person on the aggro list. When you come out of your ice block and do something, then, if the tank hasn't reestablished aggro, you'll be it's target again. Invisibility is a mage's aggro dump.

When it is trainable, this is gonna rock. ;-)

Yes.

I read a doc on undocumented 2.3 changes that IB is no longer able to freeze you in midair. I can't verify it as I'm currently fire spec, but the site is reputable, so I can't imagine that they'd put out bad info like that. Someone want to validate?

I suppose it's not that big of a deal, though, unless they never built IB to stop fall damage. Then it might suck.

It has been stated/proven that this is true, althogh you simplly fall like a rock to the ground, but take no damage when you land.

Before the patch, if you Block on the air you'd stay "floating" and after it wears off, you fall. Now, if you Block on the air you'll simply fall while inside the Ice...if you hit the floor before Block wears off, you take no dmg...if it wears off on mid air...well, use Slow Fall or Blink.

Block after the patch is working like Pally's bubble works.

Iceblock with a pet out is a good standard offensive move...

You CAN still do one important thing while you are iceblocked... (besides "get healed by someone") which is cancel iceblock at any moment you wish up to the point where it expires. Which means you can do things like blink away at an unexpected time, pop out of the block to suddenly cast counterspell on a pyroblast being cast at an arena team member, pop out to suddenly frost nova/blink because they stupidly clustered around you waiting for the time to be used up.

Alot of other uses have been covered, falls, cooldowns, getting healed... infact it is probably the best way to signal the healer... "hey, your mage is about to die over here" is to pop iceblock... its a good visual clue that they need to toss a heal your way... and if they want they can even toss a heal-over time effect since they are cheaper instead of a big monster instant.

The comedy use hasn't been covered yet except for the neat effect of throwing aggro off you onto an attacker if you are being attacked.... You can do silly things like save the entire party from a wipe by getting aggro (if you can... and running off in the opposite direction of the instance entry... run run, blink... face the boss, iceblock.... soon as he gets to you... he chases party... (they are already running out of instance... (except for your dead healer... or whatever is gonna cause the wipe..)) so they have covered alot of ground... let boss go a ways... cancel iceblock... he turns and runs back to you.... just blink past him...... then invis or just runout with blinks or even die... at least you saved the rest of the group a crapload of repair bills. The aggro loss and regain ability of iceblock can actually be useful sometime and not just a "delaying" tactic. It can buy the rest of the group time to flee.

In PVP it forces the enemy to waste time, and shots.. It wastes a hunter's pets time attacking an invincible target... (till he notices) If you Iceblock at a flag they can't start capping/recapping a flag because you will uniceblock before they are finished and wack them to stop the cap... You can iceblock at the enemy flagstand in WSG if a huntertrap pops so you wait out the slow effect before grabbing flag.... (NOTE: If you iceblock while carrying a flag you drop it.)

All kinds of inventive uses... using it to cluster enemies into a tiny knot around you if you are AOE grinding.. (nova, blink, jumpspin, aoe is standard coming out of an iceblock)

Its a good spell.. you firemagi will like.

forgive me if this has been said already, but what will frost mages get as their 21(?) point talent instead?

for AOE its great for geting big groups but in pvp it could be yoused for many things 10% heath in a group and that hunters on you ice block and wait for the group to take him down you can fall of any cliff and ice block at the last second and live flag runner ice block and let the healer do his/her job

or when you have no hope icebolck /fart /lol /cheer <<works every time

In PvP I tend to use it to clear dots, break focus, or in some cases where I know I can afford to be aggressive, break snares. Occasionally I'll use it to mess around with someone too, when Im messing around I like to let mages sheep me and charge Pyroblast, then Ice Block right before it hits :-) Ive had them PoM Pyro right after a charged Pyro and both were eaten by Ice Block... I love when that happens. Of course its much safer to counterspell Poly or trinket out of sheep, but where's the fun in that :-)

In PvE it tends to be very obvious when you should use it as it's not nearly as common that it'll actually benefit you.
