Taking down HuntersFollow

#1 Nov 22 2007 at 1:45 AM Rating: Decent
Any tips on dealing with hunters?

1 on 1 i usually dot, fear the pet and shadowburn if i'm still alive.

Can't deal with more than 1 at a time tho.

Is there a better way to take them down?

id say ignore pet, fear and DoT hunter. pet is a low sustained DPS (does some dmg if BM spec) but hunter can do alot more dmg then pet. I usally fear hunter and DoT him up then spam either shadow bolt or i'll drain life. If they BM spec with Bestial wraith then your most likely dead..

First, please link your build and bracket - the most I can do is tell general advice.

-Immediately CoW the pet.
-Pop your vw as soon as you see "omfgbigredkitty" (assuming it's attacking you).
or intercept (with felguard).
-Time your d/c or iHoT to go off as soon as their wrath is up.
-Stay in their "dead zone" as much as possible (use trink to achieve).
-Keep your dots running, and your feet moving.
-Know when to sit like a stone and drain-life.
-Pop your hs when you're still above half hp (if you do it too late, you'll just lose the hp you gained in the time before you can attack again).
-Make sure your ss is up - wait for their wrath to end, but before they get "comfortable" and fully heal-up. Then pop up and d/c or iHoT them into oblivion.

I thought the dead zone was removed with 2.3

It wasnt removed, it was reduced. It's like 1 yard now. Very hard to get control of it now.

No, it does not exist.

Melee is 0-5 yards, ranged is 5-35. The best you could do is repeatedly move across the line to mess with the shot and swing timers, but then you wouldn't be able to cast.

Or just stay in melee. It is in the very instincts of a hunter (not counting morons) to move out of melee range, which means they won't be shooting for a second.

Leveled my main as a BM from 10-70 and stuck with it till lately..
Locks usually killed me, but they died first. Focus on the hunter but throw CoW on the pet if you have time. If the hunter and pet turn red, just dps and use your hs. sacing your vw is nice to do during this time. Make sure you fear the hunter as soon as he turns pale again. if you think you are going to die, dot him up again and pray you have a ss... then you get to stand over his body and wait for him to pop up again. Also, if you see him fall to the floor while his pet is still eating you, make sure you throw in a SB or Immo cus he isn't dead.

pretty much, Ovelia got it right, though Drain Life will get interrupted so that you get 1-2 ticks each cast (even with imp drains), but that's better than nothing.

Oh, and to stress it again, CoW pet, then ignore him.

(btw, dead zone is completely gone)

The dead zone is buggy, and I've gone as far as to duel about 10 times to have it proven to me. If you get to EXACTLY 5 yards, the very edge of the range is NOT inclusive. Of course, this information does you absolutely NO good, but it is there.

Here's what I do, works like a charm and win with 85%+ hp

3 steps:
1) seduce hunter
2) fear pet
3) kill hunter with not pet and defenseless
