Need advice from arena priestsFollow

Hi guys,

My first post here, I'm usually more active on the rogue board. Just coming here cause I need some input from you regarding my arena duo with my priest friend (me playing rogue). For the records, he's got a disc/holy pvp build which should be decent enough.

We aren't very experienced as an arena team but we do reasonably well against most teams. Except against a warrior + heal combo. The worst is probably a warrior + druid/pally since:
1) the warrior really kills my priest fast in a 1on1 situation
2) I usually take more time to take down their heal (especially druids who can run fast, tank, etc... so it takes time).

Sure we can't rule out the possibility that I am the one sucking as a rogue and I'm trying to work on that the best I can.

Still, I would also like to know if we are doing sth wrong as a team. From the priest perspective, how should such a fight take place? Our first strategy was for me to take down the heal and then focus on the warrior. The problem with this strategy was that I would most of the time end up alone against the two and die. We've recently tried to have me on the warrior and it worked well a couple of times but I must say that there was no healer in their team. To be frank, I must say that if there had been a healer, I doubt that I could have taken down the warrior before my priest died...

So:
1) any tips on how to improve survivability of the priest? he usually bubbles up and then fear (or the other way around I don't remember) but the warrior often resists the fear and then he says that he has very limited means of defense and dies fast
2) can you confirm that a priest has no chance solo vs a warrior and that I have no choice but to focus the warrior so as to not lose my priest fast? I told him to try to get away from the warrior (but not too far away so as to avoid Charge), but this seems close to impossible to do... confirmed?
3) any other useful info/tips on this situation?
4) also and now leaving the scenario where we face a warrior + heal combo, it seems that the priest's defense options are few: mostly, he tries to avoid LOS against all type of range damage dealers or casters so as to avoid taking hits and getting interrupted. Is there more to it?

In advance, thanks for your time and thoughts,

nostra

dunno if it help but maybe you should try focus on the warr with the movement (or another 1) and heal reducing poison on your wpns, then your priest might be able to run far away enough to start mana burn the healer..

also try to keep shield + PoM + renew up as much as possible, and use fear on the enemy healer so he wont be able to heal for 8-9secs..

Against a healer/warrior you have to kite the warrior while your priest manaburns the warrior's healer.

Also priests are exceptionally squishy before gear, however their survivability scales very well.

Thanks for the answers guys, that makes sense.

So I'll be on the warrior's back, which is not so much an issue for me as a rogue since 2.3 (I can do that and survive with my AR/Prep/Hemo build).

And we'll get much better gear next Monday and will have full epic pvp gear, so I guess life will be easier for us.

Thanks again,

the best 2v2 survival tip is to stay back. your priest partner could mount up in the prep area and spend the first part of the match trying to stay on the opposite side of the arena as the warrior.

once the warrior is on him, there's no escaping. hamstring will keep your priest from running away, and their ******* of interrupts. i've had a fair amount of success mitigating dmg by constantly moving through the warrior (kind of like how non-casters mess with casters' line of sight... you can't swing at something behind you)

warriors have too many antifear abilites to make it effective. the priests fear would be better applied to the other teams healer (to interrupt the heals and give you a better chance of killing the warrior).

waste a few matches trying to Mind Control the warrior. that may get some distance between them, or at least buy you some time. i switched to shadow before i got to experiment with this much, but the logic is that if the warrior is MCed, their team is doing 0 damage.

once in range, they are incredibly hard to get away from. i couldn't heal through mortal strike, and they have too many interrupts. now that i'm a shadow priest, they die so much faster (with silence & fear being applies to the warrior's healer)

sap 1, kill 1

2/2 hallowed buffs interupt avoidance on binding heal. even if you haven't taken damage, it may be a more successful cast than flash heal on himself. otherwise, a holy priest relys heavily on instant casts (renew, pw:shield, prayer of mending).
