I seem to recal someone saying that the Fel Leather Set(From consortium rep) is some of the best gear you can get til raids.

Could someone confirm this for me?

EDIT: I Want confirmation because Mats are pretty expensive. I'd rather not waste the money

It's the best blue PvE gear. Get it.

Mats might be expensive, but the pieces are on AH now and then for low prices (20-50G a piece). Ofcourse you also need gems to socket. But the set is worth is.

i have never tried the fel leather because i have never had a high level leather user but from what i see it is a nice looking set of armor and remember you dont get the set bonus if you dont have master leatherworking

EDIT: Rogue just hit 70 WOO! thinking about getting this set myself

The boots are comparable (if not better) than edge walkers. The set is incredible, verging on OP.

The set is so damned good I was very tempted to get it for my warrior.
Definitely be gettin it for my rogue when he hits outlands.

To be honest, I'm not sold on this set. Yeah, all those gem slots are nice, but there's comparable gear out there, even before Karazhan.

Your completely wrong there is no comparable gear before kara and some not even in kara.

The fel leather set including individually is better than some epics.

Fel Leather Leggings(blue)>Midnight Legguards(epic)

Fel Leather Boots(Blue) >Boots of Effortless Striking(epic SSC)> Rapscallion Boots(epic kara)

Fel Leather Gloves(blue) >Grips of Deftness(Kara Epic) > Netherblade Gloves(T4 kara epic) > Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation(Kara Epic)

The fel leather set is undoubtley the best possible blue gear for a rogue with the max DPS stats including which is heavy on +hit, +crit, +attack power and has atleast 2 gem slots per piece of gear. They are have no stamina but they are max DPS pieces.

Wrong. The Midnight Legguards are better. 30 Stamina is easily worth trading 4 hit for 1 crit and 4 AP. You get hit by AoEs in PvE, you do need a certain level of stamina. If I could convert all my +hit into 30 stamina, 1 crit and 4 AP per 4 points, I'd have nearly 30k health, 2k AP and 30% crit. I'd say that's definitely worth it. Hell, if I were to simply convert 1 hit to 30 stam (about the equivalent DPS gain), I'd get over 85000 health unbuffed. I think that would make me the new main tank.

Fel Leather Boots(Blue) >Boots of Effortless Striking(epic SSC)> Rapscallion Boots(epic kara)

The boots of effortless striking are just plain garbage. Everyone should be getting a pair of Nyn'jah boots anyway, they're the best boots in the game.

Quote:
Fel Leather Gloves(blue) >Grips of Deftness(Kara Epic) > Netherblade Gloves(T4 kara epic) > Gloves of Dexterous Manipulation(Kara Epic)

Again, no. The Fel Leather Gloves are approximately equal to T4, not better. Also, the massive amount of stam on T4 compared to Fel Leather makes it a very easy choice. Your list should go: Netherblade > Fel Leather > Grips of Deftness > Assassination > Dextrous Manipulation.

Yes, the set is good, but it's not the best gear until SSC like you seem to think it is.

Nooble I had stated the fel leather set is a max DPS build not including stamina. I'm not gonna lie i haven't even entered kara on this rogue but atm all pre heroic gear cept neck(bone chain necklace) i have about 6k hp(got a good MT so rarely die in heroics) and am sitting at 279 hit rating 1575 attack power and 23.25% crit and have managed to outdps MANY kara geared casters by about 4% well that is my job as a rogue since i really don't sport any type of other utilities for the group. About to start trying to get the wastewalker's shoulders and chest for the +35 hit bonus so i can slap on the midnight legguards and other attack power and crit heavy gear. Though what i was trying to get at is that the fel leather set is the easiest and best DPS blue gear to obtain.

Dead rogue's do no dps, is essentially what nooble was getting at.

And 6k hp in Kara is going to almost be a one shot on you.

Your right but even if i have 6k hp before i enter kara, raid buffed with fort, kings, MotW, Commanding shout, Elixers, consumables, Shadowpriest, ret pally(SoL) etc should be cake getting btwn 8-9k hp and keeping it up.

You're going to get at most 1500 health out of raid buffs, and that's assuming you have an ideal group makeup. In a 10 man, that's just not going to happen.

1. Commanding Shout. If you're getting this, your raid leader doesn't know how to make groups, or your warrior is an idiot.
2. Kings. Not going to get this in a 10 man. Might > Salv > Kings (salv can be best depending on the encounter), so unless you've got 3 pallies, you're not getting kings.
3. Elixir. Waste of money.
4. Consumables. If you've already listed elixirs, that leaves only food. If you're using stamina food, there's a problem.
5. Shadowpriest. Once again, you're not going to have one in your group. If you do, there's a problem.
6. Ret Pally. Good luck with that. Not going to stop you from getting killed from having too little health. AoEs hit for 6-8k in high end PvE, a couple hundred health won't save you from getting one-shotted.

I don't mean to be an ***, but you have admitted that you do not have raid experience. I do, and I know what I'm talking about.
#14 Nov 27 2007 at 1:34 PM Rating: Default
Not on this rogue i have not had any raiding experience but i have on my warlock. If your not bringing elixirs, pots(haste), consumables then your not contributing to the raid like you should the only reason not to bring any of those is if you have the content on farm. Salv over any other buff for to be able to dish out max DPS early on without having to feint(waste of energy and DPS) or vanish too early or on a part you shoudln't have to. Kara is a 10-man raid your not gonna get a feral Druid, Enhance shaman, Fury Warrior and another physical Type DPS class on half of your 10 man raid. So there will be mix and matching.

Irrelevant, ranged classes don't have the same kind of AoE liability melees do.

I've never said anything to the contrary, but a stamina elixir is a waste of money. All consumables should be contributing to your DPS, not your stamina.

Sustained DPS > Early DPS. You can do more damage with Might than you can with Salv, just learn to control your aggro until you Vanish.

I fail to see how this is supporting your argument in any way.

fel leather is very good, and shouldnt be too expensive for gloves and boots (the better 2 pieces of the 3 piece set)

not the best, but for pure dps... VERY good
