Good non-shadow leveling build?Follow

#1 Nov 21 2007 at 1:04 PM Rating: Decent
Hi, all, I'm really new to the priest class...my priest is currently a level 15 draenei, and I'm trying to figure out a talent build. I don't want to go shadow. Is there a non-shadow build out there that's good for leveling with? I read the sticky at the top of the forum looking for ideas, but it mostly just confused me. :(

Any help would be really appreciated.

Hi man I was discipline until lvl 49. Now with VT I respecced to shadow. And here are my 2 cents..

First of all the speed of killing cannot be compared disc vs shadow. But OK if you wona avoid it.. your 1st 5 points must go to Spirit tap. (no discussion here :D) You could then aim to something like this.. To explain.. your fight techniques.. start off with a holy fire.. then mind blast followed by SW:P as the mob is running to you.. when he reaches you put on a shield and wand it down. It will kill it self when it will start meele you. You can use another holy fire when the 1st dot from it expires and you should do fine.

With this build you will have no mana issues healing to lvl 50. And you can run from one mob to another.. I Hope this helped. Regards

I leveled my Draenei Priest all Holy. As Arp said, you can't make a comparison between leveling this way and leveling shadow. It's just not as effective, but it is possible.

If you want to go holy (there's nothing wrong with disc, btw) I would also recommend your first five points go into Spirit Tap in the Shadow tree. You can take them out at the higher levels, but to begin with, it will help you kill more mobs before needing a drink.

For leveling, I would also take the 5 points in wand spec from the Arcane tree. Again, take them out later, but they served me well while leveling.

As far as the holy tree itself, max out healing focus and imp renew, then move on to the talents that increase your holy damage and reduce cast time. If you're soloing alot, I wouldn't worry about the healing spells too much until after you're satisfied with your damage. You'll be able to heal yourself just fine without improving your healing too much. You will however, need to kill things quickly... your shied will only take so much damage!

Just my two cents.... whatever you do, enjoy it and have fun!

/rate up for Arp for not saying... "Level as shadow and THEN play how you want!"

I understand starting w/ Holy fire, but why would you throw the Mind Blast before the SW:P? Shouldn't you throw the instant before the 3 sec cast time?

No idea where I pulled 3 from. And I only cast it about 500 times a day.

become a surge-of-light smiter! This build will take you to lvl 65:

the important talents are:
5/5 spirit tap
5/5 holy spec (more crit)
5/5 divine fury (shorter cast times)
2/2 searing light (+dmg)
2/2 holy reach (range)
5/5 spi guidance (+dmg)
2/2 surge of light (more dps)
(leaving disc tree for last, you could have all these by level 42)

My Disc Priest is lvl29 and has never had a single point in Spirit Tap :0

I thought I would try the Wand Spec/Good wand route (lesser magic/greater magic/excavation rod)and so far I haven't really had much problem with low mana.

I tend to just Holy Fire/SW:P/PW:S then either wand or MB/wand depending upon my opponents level. I will use Mana Burn on casters then wand, and use Inner Focus when its off cooldown.

Spirit Tap is probably the sensible way to go; but it's not essential.

Omg, I just LOL'd at work because I had an image of a priest all in white robes beating the hell out of a furbolg with a shovel.

By level 40. Start with Spirit Tap, then go down the Disc Tree.

Following a Holy Fire, PW:S, Mind Blast, SW:P, wanding setup, you will find yourself peeing out your extra mana.

I would recommend using a fear rank 1 than PW:S, this will reduce your overall mana consumption.
