2.3.2 Hunter Changes

Can I hear a "Hell yeah!" from the gathered Hunters? Apparently two threads with 50+ pages of Hunters cursing at Blizzard was enough to make them realize how retarded their last stealth changes to Hunters was.

Well i guess im happy...Although i have to say its been at least a month and a half since ive had to trap anything, so i really could care less. But ok never mind, im babbling.

I'm obviously very pleased by this. Not only do I appreciate that I'll be able to double trap again, I appreciate that they made the decision and announced it before S3 begins. The day S3 goes live, I get a swanky new epic chest piece that's got three gem sockets on it, and knowing before I get it whether I should be continuing the Agility trend or switching to AP is a definite bonus.

Blizz is full of win on this one.

"Hell yeah!"

..even though I'm nowhere near to having to multitrap anything.

..and a minor "huzzah!" to increased pet levelling speed.. I could never bear to get rid of the wolf I tamed at level 20, so I kept him current along with my other "leveling' pet, and pulled him out for melee-heavy groups and instances. Was afriad I'd have to leave him behind now that I get hit in the face with a barrel of XP with every quest I finish.

*edit* can't grammar right.

You beat me to it North!! I've been watching the Blizzard hunter boards for the past few days just waiting for some good news. Glad to hear that our concerns were heard.

Hell yeah!

I can't believe some folks were saying Hunters were QQ'ing about this when it was an ability that helped EVERYONE. It only has minor function in PvP from what I can tell. Most players can dump a freeze trap in a second or two and at worst they are out of it 10 seconds. So, it's not an OP function at all. It's really best for 5-man instance and I guess some raiding.

I'm just glad to see Blizz recant on something so quickly.

And all is right in the World... of Warcraft.

This is great. I can't begin to tell you how much I missed that ability.

But one question (even though it was more of a showoff thing, and doesn't apply to me anyway), will the Readiness specced hnters be able to triple trap again? Or is it limited to 2 traps?

Have to wait and find out. Up to this point, as far as I know Blizzard hasn't said one way or the other.

Now the question: If we can only double trap, would the hunter community settle with it as a sacrifice to at least get double trapping back? Personally, I think it's a fair trade, but then again, I've never really been in a position in which I wished I could triple trap. I can't talk for the SV hunters who can triple trap, and then chain trap the remaining two.

I would imagine that given the wording of the response, as well as the mechanics involved in the programming, traps will operate as they did before. So yes triple trap.

Triple trapping + chain trapping is a myth. If you trap two mobs, Readiness and then trap a third, when the first trap breaks you're going to have to kite it for a few seconds before you can get that mob in a fourth trap. By then, the second mob you trapped has also most likely broken out and you've got nothing for it. By the time you kite that one around and get it into a trap, the last mob you trapped is going to break out (if it hasn't already).

Sustained double trapping is about the best a properly specced/geared SV Hunter can do. Readiness makes that a little easier, but you can only go so long before what you're really doing is kiting one mob while the other is trapped and then trapping the kited mob and kiting the trapped one.

If you're in a situation where your group requires you to triple trap, you're in a shoddy group. If you're in a group with a Hunter who insists on being allowed to triple trap, he's just stroking his e-peen.

Aside: I can't believe all of the Hunters on the O-boards asking for more stuff. We just got spammed with the buff stick, had it announced that a stealth "bug fix" is being reversed in our favor, and you've still got folks complaining that it's not enough.

Oy.

I'm not one of the QQers. There's a few things I'd like to see, but eh, what good would it do to complain about it.

But the players screaming about us being OPed, are those who no longer have hunters on easy mode. Tough for them. I'm really losing sleep over it. I mean, to take away easy HKs? How mean!

I actually have a friend who said he'd beat hunters 95% of the time, and the only ones who beat him either had help, or were "ubergeared" and great players.

Now he wins, maybe 60% of the time, and hunters are OPed. Riiiight.
