Lvl 60 Charger Mount Quest - or just get to 70Follow

I'm torn between running all the old world instances for my Charger Mount (Strat, DM, and Scholo), or just continue leveling in Outlands, and get to lvl 70. When I get enough money during leveling, just buying the epic mount skill - whenever that happens.

What did you guys do?

personally i wouldnt bother with the mount quest at all and just get your regular mount. If you have some people willing to help you out then its worth it, but if its hard finding groups on your server skip it imo.

I just waited around 3 days for a Strat group and bought the rest of the mats. It's not all that hard to have the money saved up during your growth to 60 or get them from your main if you have one.

Getting a group for Strat is hard these days...but I got one from a Lock who wanted to get some mats to DE in it since the prices were ridiculously high on our server. Your best bet is to find guildies who want to run it, for whatever reason, and tag along with them.

Still, as opposed to the alternative, it's a matter of if you have a support network to determine how easy it is. Do it if it's not going to annoy you but don't kill yourself in order to get one as some people do.

You should just get it on a matter of principle, it's one of the things that defines you as a Paladin. Get in a guild or get friends that will help you and do it.

I agree with you, Cap. I spent 3 weeks of my leveling time trying to get groups for the three runs. After I adjusted my sleep schedule (I am deployed to Afghanistan right now, so time difference is ridiculous) to be online at the same time, I finally started getting help from my guild.
3 weeks, about 650g, and a severe lack of sleep later, I rolled out of Stormwind on my special Paladin-only mount.
It was worth it.

For me I waited till 70 and ended up buying the epic riding skill inorder to get my sweet flying mount. About 2 days later we did a pally guild run so that three of us could all get our chargers. I agree with Jack, pallys have to have the charger...it's just stupid to not have it. Plus there is semi decent loot in strat and DM that's good for dis-enchanting if nothing else.

Well - that being said, I'll go for it. If it takes a few weeks, so be it!

Thanks to everyone for the advice.

I do have a good guild, and will probably have pretty good luck getting some folks to help out. So it shouldn't be too bad. I just need to farm for a bit more cash.

Cap Jack - I'm using your FAQ as a guide for mats. Great job on writing that up.

Got mine around 63. I really like it, its a cool looking mount. Took some time to get all the items, but I'm happy that the guild help. Aside from that the quests are easy, the Start one may take time to get the waters though.

It's a personal choice whether you want to spend the time and effort to get it. I waited till around 70 to obtain the Charger. Wish I had gotten it earlier since the 60% mount feels slow once you're booking it with your sexy mount and Crusader Aura. It costs some money and time, but is less than buying the riding skill. Plus it saves a bag space (if you're cramped). If you like the lore/storyline and want the pally-specific mount, then it is worth the effort. If you're swimming in gold and just want to fly, maybe you just buy the skill. Warlocks and Pallies are the only ones with class-specific steeds (druids excluded) and I enjoy having something no one else can obtain. For others, it's not that important.
