I am a bit confused as to where I should be focusing my gear with 2.3. Should I be looking at str/ap or spell damage or maybe a combo of both? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

str/ap & agil/melee crit... some +hit is helpful too. SoC & CS & white (regular) hits will all scale well with str/ap and they crit based on your melee crit chance. SoC & CS will gain a little from +spell dmg but, your white hits won't. so str/ap will boost all your damage, whereas +spell dmg will only boost a part of it.
