Epic Mount QuestFollow

... so far i hate blizz still.

Ok so yesterdaty I lvled 4 times, (from 56 to 60).Mostly because of my awesome brother and friend, other part outlands.

So, like any other warlock who lvled, I go and set out on the epic mount chain.
Being the WoW player i am, i check Allakhazam for quest help.

So I start doing the chain.Spend 200g on the mats for the early stages of the chain.then i get sent to Jaedenar.Ok go there, do the quest. I notice i need to spend 150g on a vendor item.Well, knowing its my epic, I do so... (even tho I've already spent 200g on mats just to get this quest)

Then I get the quest for scholo. Yaaaa!! Scholo!!!

Yep, me and my bro +friend head to scholo. then we get there attempting to get in.
Where was the key? HA! not anyone had the key.

So then we ask someone already in the instance to open it for us (lifesaver)

Then we end up having another key problem , we ended up figuring it out after about oh say 2 hours in Scholo.

Ok we get that done,i summon the imp dude.then i say oh yaa im bout to get my epic! right?

WRONG!

i go back to Burning Steeps , get the last quest.I get that book and i open it, I read it. It tells me to BUY more mats from a vendor.
I look at the vendor prices ,(remember i have just spent 350g on mats already)
then it says something to the effect of summoning the guy in DM.

wow. you have got to be kidding me.

Little did i notice the 70 lock /afk at Burning Steeps. when we get back from scholo he says not to do this lock quest. its bugged..

/wrists
/die

but after calming down from last night... i am just going to send myself some g from my bros account.

Then I will get a group for DM for the last (supposibly) part of the chain.

Well, if you know a lock that's already done the quest, you don't have to buy the final mats, as he can use his. There used to be a post here on the forums entitled "Warlocks who will help you with you epic", or something like that. This is something your guild should help you with.

Also, a regular Epic costs about 600G for the training and about another 100G for the mount. So it still costs about 100G less then other classes, and the quest chain isn't that hard, I actually found it fun.

I guess what I'm trying to say here is, QQ more.

No one is forcing you to do the quest. You could easily have bought an epic like the other classes. If you don't want to go through the trouble to get your dreadsteed then don't. This is the most exciting, fun quest chains in the game. Almost every 60+ lock I've seen has his. Evidently its not such a bad thing.

I don't have the mats. Bless the 'lock I met in the process.

And it IS fun. Keep going, the DM encounter makes up for it.

Yep, this is the best quest chain in the game, loads of fun. In fact, I can't wait to do it again with the younger locks in our guild.

Also, you'll be glad you have your epic when the expansion comes out. I don't think you'll be able to use flyers.

Warlocks without Dreadsteed aren't warlocks xD

I've done yesterday the quest, and i got to say that its very difficult AND good at the same time!

The final part is maravelous!

Well, turns out this will take longer than I first thought it would take.

It has been 3 days since I have first started this quest, I am still stuck at the DM west part of the quest.Me and my 70 hunter bro set out to finish this once and for all.We started a group for DM west, got a full group... then as time went by, one by one people started leaving the group.Once again it was just me and my bro.

We asked guildies how to take down the shield to get in to summon the boss dude...

take out the towers on the first floor, second floor, and top floor fyi

So we get all that done, then finally, after all i have done, we use the mats and start the ritual.

ahh yes this seems worth it. After all that time we actually are almost done...

then it happened... I stupidly enough ...

ran out of shards

>.<

but all is not lost, the mats are still there, its just a matter of time before i get my epic mount.

after all , what is a warlock without his mount?

Make shards as you go. The demon attacks become easier if you take over one of the felguards and put him on offensive. When his enslave expires, take over a different one and do the same.

QFT. Using your own Felguard is perfectly acceptable, as well. He's great for keeping the incoming Felguards busy while you focus on the nodes. I'm sure you know to ignore the incoming imps, as the candle (?) procs should kill them.

It's also helpful to get a second warlock. I did it with another warlock in my guild who just so happened to also need the mount, and it worked out pretty good. One of us focused on keeping the nodes up, and the other focused on dealing with incoming demons. Burn down the steed, burn down the dreadlord, badabing, badaboom, shiny new ride.

I can't. I can't find a group to DM. Have mats, have everything...
don't have group. Tried 3 times to get one, but we never even got to DM before I had to log out.
GRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WHY BLIZZ? WHY CAN'T YOU CHANGE THE LOCATION OF THAT QUEST TO, SAY, HFR???
#15 Nov 27 2007 at 5:33 PM Rating: Decent
BTW how much time does it take for a group of 65-70es to clear DM until that place?

I did it with 3 70's, a lvl 58, and lil ol me. It still takes a couple hours by the time everyone cokes and smokes, but we never got wiped. Of course we spent 20 mins trying to figure out the stupid shield, till we get thottbot.....duh, we had missed a crystal tower. Then it was cake.......
#17 Nov 27 2007 at 9:58 PM Rating: Decent
ehhh this quest, with 3 70s at least... still takes about 2 hours, more or less, depends on how devoted you are.

Only thing hard about this part of the quest is clearing out all the stupid little shields.

All you have to do to do that is kill all the blue dudes around it, after that’s done it’s gonna make like a snap sound, and ull see the blast and that’s how u know its "killed". If it doesn’t make a blast there’s someone else you need to kill for that tower thing.

If you don’t have all the blue towers taken down the shield around the part you need to be in will still be up. So make sure you take them all out.

IT's not Blizz's fault your market prices are high and items are hard to get. Blizz has nothing to do with that. Your server's economy isn't controlled by the GMs or Blizz staff.

I spent about 200g in total for all the mats, including the star dust and the shadow potion.

To get into scholo without a key; Life tap, hellfire, release, go through door, res, right click torch. Pre TBC everyone had the scholo key. EPL rep grinding ftw.

Your death idea is good, but you still need the key or other way of opening the locked door on the inside of the instance.

Edit...oops, you're talking about scholo, not DM West.

Hey,

I got my epic yesterday, finally. There was 4 of us, me lvl67 and 3 lvl70 guildies, lock, priest and rogue. I actually thought it would be harder but it was like a walk in a park. I guess thanks to my guildies. Just went in cleared mobs around those 5 chrystals or whatever and did the thing. I am so reliefed it's now done becouse I started doing the chain right when I dinged 60. But it's not so easy to get a group to Dire Maul. For sure that is the hardest part of the guest and it shouldn't be.

Still in the process of hating blizz. Really. Ok, level the lock, get him his mount, if only I knew ...

But once on the chain, you´re on it... and yeh its total fun in a weird totally masochistic way its the most funny questline in the whole game - not.
Travel there, speak to that one, buy these mats, repeat, oh the fun

If you ever want to freak a lock out, just mention his 'free' epic mount.
Then again I´m only a frustrated discouraged manic obsessive average gamer :)

He lied. I've done the quest multiple times and had no problems. Be sure that you have someone with the key to DM west with you.

I found this chain a pain. But that was mostly because I'm on low pop. and no one does the instances needed for the quest chain. So kinda frustrating. After a week or two I think I found a group for the DM part. It was worth it I believe.

Mats and all the rest costed me 750g.
I got all the keys myself and all the required mats.
I was level 66 when I finally managed to do Scholo with mage friend - 2 clothies having fun.
Same night at 2 am after Scholo we somehow grabbed 68 priest and 67 warrior - at 4.30 am I had the mount.

Took me only like 3 weeks for all that.

So please...

This thread makes me want to roll a new undead lock. I miss the quest chain, and I hate having my lock on a PVE server (me and a bunch of friends rerolled PVP where all my other toons now reside).
#26 Jan 09 2008 at 6:00 PM Rating: Decent
Did mine less that a month ago even though I had the mats for months. I enjoyed it very much and atm am trying to get a group to go back there for the doomguard chain.
