Need help...Follow

Hey, I'm Icecrusher from Balnazzar. And I thought that I might get some advice here.

Problem is: I can't beat anything in pvp these days...
I dunno if anyone else has similar problems, or if I'm just being some whining ***** right now, but I have gained the impression that nearly every other class IF they are PvP specced has some spell or ability to totally lock me down or to turn every kind of tactic I'm trying to establish through the meat grinder.

When i fight balance Druids they always have the benefits on their side cuz they just need to cast some arcane school nuke and i can just swallow it or cs it, which will then result in me dying eventually or the drood being able to heal with his nature spells. Feral Druids have too much hp and do too much dmg for a hybrid class that can heal at least IMO. they cannot be rooted and they are fast in catform, at least outdoors, and by the time they are low on mana to heal and shift shapes I'm oom and also hp most likely and can as well just sit down so at least one of us can have the fun to get a good crit. They are just leaving me no time to make up anythink that makes sense...

WArriors have to be well-played to be a real pain, but spell reflect and their fear shout and everything don't make then an easy class either.

Let's not talk about locks and priests, they are some kind of caster-cyptonite...

Shammys... well alot of then are whining a lot about how they suck ***, then they take a break, single-handedly pwn me and go on whining. Grounding totem and earth shock are doing quite a job at distracting me while they are doing not much less damage then i can.

Pallys: stun stun stun, pvp trinket and their freedom thing+ a lot of hp and also strangely damage output-> heal if its even neccecary and bubble... probably you get the idea.

Rogues: slow me to 30% movement speed, kick sheep, new pvp trinket, blind, vanish and all those goodies make up for some pwned mage-> me.

There is almost an endless list of those things, and of course I know I would have a better chance in pvp if i get lvl 70 (67 now) and gear up and get faster and not hit the wrong buttons and set up a better interface and go full frost (0/27/31 now) and stuff, but has anyone else the feeling, that the mage and the other classes abilities are scaling in a way as if blizzard would be assuming the average mage to be as skilled as vurtne and as if ice block would be up every 30 secs... with a 1min cd on cold snap? I jsut have the feeling that all the other classes spells and abilitie are kind of more valuable than the mage's but probably I'm jsut missing some really amazing trick that will make me pwn (yes right xD).

MAybe you can tell me something new, cuz I'm simply of the opinion, that it cannot be possible that the mages have to be 10 times as skilled as teir opponents to even have any success against otehr players.

PvP is a twitch game.... you have to know the other classes pretty well and be able to counter what they are going to do.

First of all, you don't say if these battles are happening 1 on 1, or in battlegrounds or in arena. It makes a huge difference on which one you are in, as to what you do. You also do not let us know your spec, though from your name, it would appear you are a frost mage (17/0/44?)

Evertas' page has a few good learning videos for frost mages and how to counter specific classes. I recommend you watch these.

For druids, if you don't have improved counterspell, arcane missiles are your friends. They will push back the druid casting bar when they hit every 1 second (or .5 seconds if cast with the MSD gem). I would save the counterspell (if not improved) for nature so that they cannot heal. Sheep will also stop them from casting (think -> sheep -> icelance so as not to give them health back). Blink through them as most of their nukes require you to be in front of them. I also always frost nova druids (it costs mana to shift). Your pet should also do some good damage and there is a trick with frostbolt & waterbolt and freeze that can do massive burst damage. Practice it.

Warriors can be a royal pain. Spell reflect answer = use ice lance till you get a reflect. Another won't come for 5 seconds, so nuke away. Root and kite is the warrior thing. Blink out of INTERCEPT ONLY.

Locks & Shadow Priests can make yer day aweful. Non-resto shammans can also be hard, as they do sigificant burst damage. Be sure to sheep and use counterspell on their heals.

Pallies are actually not that bad unless there are 2 of them (or them and 1 other healing class). You wait till they are getting low on health and CS one of their heals and burn 'em down.

Rogues just plain hurt. You may be able to beat them, but I rarely do.

If you're talking about battlegrounds, make sure you stay with a couple of others. Don't go soloing all over the map or you'll get pwned. Arenas, I hang back until everyone else runs out and usually and not the focus fired target (I have seen mages use invis at the beginning of an arena... which is okay unless they have a lock). Dueling can be just plain hard. A lot of what I get to do in arena and BGs depend on me getting the first shot in.

HTH I am not a PvP guru by any means, but I do enjoy it. It took me a long time to get to the point where I enjoy it, though. ;-) There is a lot of pain and swallowed pride on the way to getting okay at PvP. Even more to getting 'good' at PvP. I don't know what it takes to get to great, cause I ain't there.
