Yes in the end blacksmithing has good ENHANCEMENT things such as Fel iron armor runic hammer, storm helm.
(Hammersmith) Thunder,drakefist (improveable)
(Axesmith) Planar edge, Lunar crescent (improveable)

While leatherworking has good armor such as the Ebon Netherscale armor (i dont know very much about leatherworking because i have never had one before)if you plan on going elemental at 60 or 70 or whenever there is Netherstrike which is really good 70 elemental armor.

Leather working and Blacksmithing ca certainly both be good trades for Shamans.

If you go Blacksmithing I would advise specializing in Weaponsmithing and further into macecrafting as the haste proc on the Drakefist (one hand) and the stun proc on Thunder are both highly beneficial to Shamans. However only take BS if you are certain you are going to stay enhancement as it offers little to elem or resto.

Leatherworking offers some great gear for both Enhancement and Elemental with the two BoP Dragonscale sets at 70, Ebon Netherscale (Enh) and Netherstrike (Elem).

Neither of these trades offer much to resto's, if that's what you plan on being perhaps consider Alchemy.

I actualy think the netherstrike set makes fine for healing gear if you socket them that way.
