Frozen Shadow Weave, or Spell Fire?Follow

Hi all!

So here I am, just hit 70 on my lock and I'm starting to get on top of the end game things to do. I'm a pretty casual player, so I picked up tailoring knowing I could still see some epic gear without having to dedicate time (of which I have a precious little) to raiding and what not. This is the second lock I've played (Got my first to 55 as Affliction, but changed faction and servers) and I've found myself to be very partial to the destruction Build! This leads me to my dilemma:

I'm trying to decide between the:

Frozen Shadow Weave:

and

Spell Fire:
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/itemset.html?setid=552

sets in tailoring. I'm under the impression that once you specialize in a certain area of tailoring, you can't go back and re-specialize later?

My first instinct is to go with the Frozen Shadow Weave, as the Shadow damage applies to the majority of my spells, and the set will still be viable if I decide to respecc later on.

On the other hand, my fire spells are the brawn of the Destruction tree and I do use them more often than not. I love PvP and my damage output would greatly benefit from the Spell Fire set! If shadowfury was instead a fire based spell I think my mind would already be made up, but I can't seem to come to a descion :\

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

P.S Sorry for the if the linkage on the sets does not work, not to savvy when it comes to using the forums :P

First thing you didn't mention is what the gear is for. Will you be PvPing, Raiding, Instancing or just farming?

For PvP, forget either set, it doesn't have the +Sta or Resilience needed.

For the rest, Destro can be good, but the most damage you get out of Destro should still be Shadowbolt. Searing Pain is good for PvP and the rest of the Fire Spells(with possibly the exception of Immolate) are pretty much crap. The crit on the Spellfire set is nice though, as Destro pretty much requires +crit to work the way it should. All your DoTs(except Immo) are Shadow though. For farming and killing bosses we need the Sta. While the FSW set has some, it's not really much.

Personally, I'd go with FSW, even with a Destro build, as DoTs and SBs are still your primary source of Damage, and the Sta that it has will help you be able to keep DPS with just a couple Life Taps.

Edit: Had a wrong word in there.

Ah my bad! Primarily PvE stuff at the moment. I love PvP, but unfortunately none of my in game friends are really into it, so I'll probably just end up losing ten matches a week in the Arena doing BG's :P.

You make some good points, thanks for the Advice!

I went with Shadow myself, although I'm a pet spec and non-pvp.

You can change tailoring specializations, only problem is that it costs 150g. O_o

I don't know if this cost increases if you do it a second time or not as I'm saving for an epic mount and not willing to dump the 150 right now.

The shadow spec has the added bonus of making it a tad cheaper to make that wonderful 28 slot soul bag too.
