updating class by class, will bump thread as i do

Welcome! This is the big time, welcome to the 'step 1v1 guide! This guide will assume a few things...

a: Patch is 2.3.x
b: You're 'step, and it's a hemo version, not daggers.
c: You're fighting at least relatively decent geared people.
d: No racials will be used, PVP trinket will be.
e: The fights are for people in the low-middle PVP gear range (under 10.5khp, under 250 resilience). This is to help the people who need help grasping how to run this build, 2200 5v5 rogues won't need the help, and learning the basics now at lower gear levels will let you adjust and learn on your own.

= PRIEST =

-Healing priests-

Poisons: Wound/Crip

Premed, CS, EA, Gouge, Sprint, run and restealth...

Garrote, Slice and dice... regular fight at this point...

-Float some energy, so you can kick as many heals as you can.
-Heal priests are harder to finish, PS ones in particular... just be aware, if they hit 20% hp... you most likely aren't 20% hp away from a win.
-First Psychic Scream, SHADOWSTEP BACK, not trinket!! Second, use the trinket... why? Priests don't panic until they are low, and being able to stop that fear the MOMENT it happens and kick that flash heal will win the fight.
-When they near let's say 40% or so, try to avoid using Hemo for damage... instead store some energy, KS and burn a few attacks rapid fire. Being ready to kick (or blind if need be) after you rushed them from 34% to 11% will @#%^ them over.
-Gouge is important, pretend it's your best friend... hang out with it, wine and dine it... use it often, it's a 3rd interrupt, and controls tempo.

Things to watch for? Inner Focus->Dev plague (undead only) is free life-stealing dot... avoid using COS on a undead heal priest until you see this fly up. | Shadowfiend is a joke, but if you see it... they might be OOM or damn close, blind the priest and kill the *******, shadowstep back to the pirest afterwards for a surprise (or abort mission and step back if you see him try a funny heal after he trinkets blind, if he does)

TBC...

If you title the anti-kiter sections as "how to ZOMGWTFPWN hunters," I will convert religions.

To be honest, I'm really curious to see how this shapes up against hunters (my main class). I'm not specced for arena right now, but I suppose we'll see soon enough how it goes.

Everyone gripes about BM hunters, but I'm sort of excited to see how survival fares, as well; I think that the wyvern-sting improvements are going to help greatly... and the reduced dead-zone is pretty sick.

On the other hand, I'm also rushing my *** to get to 70 with my rogue (she's currently 46) because I can't recall having this much fun with a toon. I'm sort of excited to try ShS, but I'm going to stick to combat for levelling at the reccomendation of several more than competent rogues here.

I'm excited to see this guide, Mongoose; should be a good read!

Save some cash for a re-spec at lvl 60. Try running a few AVs as a Shadowstep dagger rogue, something like 8/0/41 works and gives you 2 points to spare. It will be the only time you can really run around One shotting people. Premed>ShS>Garrote>Shiv>Rupture is deadly vs warriors and replace the shiv for a backstab crit & most classes will die from that sequence alone at lvl 60. You can quest up some good green daggers from outlands that are better than the Lobotomizer (the old AV rep-reward epic dagger).

Its great fun and an experience that you can't ever repeat unless you re-roll a Rogue and keep him as a lvl 60 twink. Dagger ShS at the moment falls extremely short of Hemo ShS. You will notice this if you try this build out because of the terrible CP generation of backstab.

Concerning Shadowstep against Hunters, I have an inquiry (and I might test this out later in a duel if someone in my Guild is a BM spec hunter - most are MM and Survival):

The biggest threat from BM Hunter, as I understand it, is the Big Red Pet Of Doom. So to counter this could we outrun them? In other words fight begins:

Pet comes charging in. A lot of hunters are going to drop BRPoD (Big Red Pet of Doom) as soon as the fight starts. So you see giant BRPoD coming - ShS behind the hunter and commend to whuppin'. You won't be able to stun if he is the BRHoD (Big Red Hunter of Doom) but you can whup up a bit. Well the pet will naturally come back after you so drop a sprint and haul ***. Try to keep away from BRPoD until it wears off, then ShS right back to the Hunter again and teach him that he is not the best at PvP.

Or is that not feasible? I'll try it and find out.

Hunter has to many ways to stall you mid run while his pet catches back up.

Just pop evasion and get the pet in front of you until BW wears off.
