Choosing a lockFollow

#1 Nov 18 2007 at 1:20 PM Rating: Default
I know you guys have seen threads like this a lot, but I have a problem. I was thinking of choosing a lock because they are really good dps in raids. i was wondering if you could kind of give me an over view of what locks are good at and excel at.

IMHO the strongest point of a lock (without any talents whatsoever) is support via HS, SS, and curses.

Then that changes slightly if you are affliction specced. Affliction is about damage to everything around you without messing up aggro via AOEs.

Demonology is about being a hunter and juicing yourpet up, send pet>cast spells>loot>/dance. Depending on which pet you use this could vary, like that rotation would be mainly for using the blueberry. The succy is about decent damage and CC. Then there is the felhunter, always good against casters. No I didnt forget the felguard, I havnt had experience with this baby, but from what I've heard he is there for damage and trying to lock an opponent up.

Last but not least is destruction. Destruction tris to be a mage having high single target damage and awesome burst damage.

Thats about all I can say, please feel free to criticise, I am still a bit of a noob and I know it.

What do we excel at?

Well, think of it like this...if we could wear plate, we'd be unbeatable...

Essentially, we're DPS / CC.

DPS, CC, a pet, and the ability to heal ourselves with both a conjured item and a few life drain skills.

Essentially unlimited life and mana, if you're affliction. The ability to burn down an elite surrounded with guards before they all kill your pet if you're destro. (and I mean, just the elite.. was 62, got off my last shot on a guy it used to take 3 60's to kill, just a second before everything else killed me)

Never tried demonology, but I have enslaved wild felguards before. They are all kinds of fun.

No one does that anymore. Its entirely too easy to have 90% of your questions answered in one concise well written format. Better to ask in the open forum and get flamed to default levels ;).
