Hi,

I was wondering on some abilities for pets and i required some more experienced intel from you guys...

Here it goes

Claw vs Bite vs Gore

Which one of these is the better spell and why?

Further more if gore should be the better one (im currently running around with the barrens raptor "Ishamuhale" and its by far one of the best dpsers I have seen... Actually no other pet has tipped it and yes i have tamed the raptor and white tiger from STV and I have compared it with other players...) which pet should I pick and more important do I pick the lowest lvl a possible and lvl him up or do I pick a high lvl pet?

I was thinking of going for a low lvl pet since you get way more TP that way and can teach extra abilities...

Gimme some advice plz...ty

Dunno if this would be useful, but check out Petopia and compare the different pet attacks.

Of the three attacks you mentioned, I think Gore would probably be one of the better attacks because of its 50% to deal double damage.

Many people like having Boars because Boars not only have Gore, but also Bite, Dash, and Charge. (Charge is especially a good attack [1 second stun to enemies after charge]).

And you'd most likely want to tame a pet that's within 0-3 levels under yours. Any more and he'd be a ***** to level up to the same level as your are.

Don't rely on Bite for DPS, it's more for those who want a slight bump in DPS for their pets without getting in the way of growl (Gore and Claw can burn through can your pet's Focus very quickly), it's more suited for MM or Surv hunters. From what I know, Gore is your best bet for DPS (I haven't played with it yet though)

But you're mistaken on TP between high and low lvl pets.

TP does not change the way you believe it does. TP is decided by your pet's lvl (5 points for each lvl) and it's loyalty level. Maxing out your pets loyalty level will allow you to fully utilize your pet's training points.

Always get the highest lvl pet available. and always aim for the highest lvl pet skills you can get a hold of.

In the end-game, a Ravager with Gore, in the hands of a Beast Mastery hunter, provides the highest DPS in a raid setting. Claw is a close second, Lightning Breath third, and Bite a distant fourth (because it has a cooldown and thus can't be used any time enough focus is available).

The biggest use of Claw/Gore is as a "focus dump," meaning that anytime there's extra focus in your pet's pool that isn't going to be immediately used for a Growl or Bite, you use Claw/Gore to turn the otherwise wasted focus into damage. Neither skill is left on auto-cast; instead, the hunter manually activates it when it's appropriate. In this way, enough focus is available when Growl is ready. Gore is considered better because of the 50% double-damage chance.

For soloing, it isn't really a big deal. The true superiority of Gore is only seen in raid settings. I personally don't make use of Gore right now. I'm not a raider by any means, and I don't like the ravager's look enough to want one if I'm not needing the absolute perfectly optimal setup for a raid.

The level at which you tame doesn't have any effect on the pet's stats. This isn't Pokemon. The level only really matters if you tame something that's significantly lower level than yourself and you have to make an effort to level the pet.

QFT.

A pet's training points are a function of the pet's level and it's loyalty level. That's it. The level you tamed at is irrelevant, only the pet's current level matters.

In closing, stay with the pet you like best, and ignore what others tell you about the "best pet." Everyone will have their own answer to the "best pet" question. If you like your crab or hyena or crocolisk, power to ya. If you want to get a low-level pet because it has a unique look, go for it (I myself am leveling one of the black armored boars from RFK, because they're really cool). Your choice of pet only becomes truly relevant when in a group, as some pets are definitely better than others.
