okay so 2.3 got rid of the hunter dead zone. how do we beat the hunter now?

firstly take out the pet(for this to work you need to see the hunter first) make sure you have healing pots and then take the hunter keep his speed reduced and stay in melee as much as you can. basically though we will lose 90% of hunter fights. not much else i can see to do.
depends on the spec of the hunter and your spec.

A BM hunter can still go down with or without using deadzone, a huge chunk of their dps comes from their pet and their IWIN button. If close in and use AoEs it will be hard for the hunter to keep up with the dps you deliver.
I will not expect to win fights against MM hunters due to fact that they can now scatter shot you into a trap, aim shot->arcane shot to dispell your shields if you use them. They can even go with opening with silencing shot to get beat your head in.
Hunters still do not have as many instants as we do so using them should be the key to winning.

well unless you have pots your pretty much doomed fighting the hunter 1 on 1 unless you get a lot of lucky crits.
There's always a mana blowing bombard of instant casts while charging the hunter head on. Specially for frost spec,nova, ice lance different slows powered by some perma frost so you dont get stuck in a wing clip with blink on cd (well you do , but if you do they are probably slowed a fair bit also so as not to get to range).

EDIT2: also forgot to say my mage is not 70 yet but it works until then, dont know if it will work with rezil in later levels or how hunter hp fares against our burst dmg
