I went into some AB with a guildie for the first time on my hunter. I'm horribly undergeared for PvP and I have no experience, but whatever. I end up being 3rd on my team with KB's (was leading for a while before several enemy players camped my graveyard while others on my team were able to roam free). Funny thing is I had like 10 KB's but only 15 HK's...normally I have about 1/4 the KBs as HKs on my warrior.

Hunters are shredding BGs after 2.3.

I ran a bunch of AB today as well, saving marks for my epic belt. Between WSG and AB I learned to hate BGs early on. Forget Alliance incompetancy...the learning curve for pre-2.3 Hunters was bloody miserable. Add to it the fact that WSG and AB (at least in my battlegroup) are well known for being "1-mark-at-a-time" grinds towards honor gear and it was just...ugh.

Alliance performed no better in AB today. It didn't help that early in the day an exceptionally well geared Horde premade was absolutely dominating AB. I'm talking 4 or 5 caps within minutes of starting the match and the entire Alliance force pushed back to their spawn area.

But...enter the post 2.3 Hunter. Over half of the ABs I ran today, I wound up on top of the kill board for Alliance. Highest KBs and HKs. The only difference now compared to then is that I'm not utterly helpless if someone gets within 8 yards of me. The sage advice always offered by other people here on Alla was simply to Wing Clip -> range. Trinket if you have to. That's all you can do. Now, I don't need to get so far to range. I don't have that 3 yard bubble where I'm often unable to do anything (ie. already blew all useable cooldowns). If you get in my face, I Wing Clip/Snake Trap/Scatter Shot, take my 5 yards, Concussive Shot, and unless you've got some buddies around to help you, you die.

Notice the guy you're fighting keeps having his HP topped up? No problem. Find the healer, target them, insta-cast Wyvern Sting, finish killing the first guy. Pure win. Even better when you can turn on the healer when you're done and net a second KB out of one encounter.

I wound up yanking 25 marks out of AB today, and in typical Alliance fashion, it wasn't easy. On my second to last run, we outnumbered the Horde 12-9, and they four capped us before we had even finished capping the Stables. It got more than a little frustrating at times when people ***** you out for asking them to communicate where they see Horde so we can adjust accordingly. "stfu and fight," they say. "ur useless," they say. Meanwhile, the Horde is grinding out another 4 cap and the highest Alliance player on the kill board is...

Me.

The "useless" Hunter.

8 more AB marks and it'll be all about the AV for the rest of the Honor. Grinding Honor is so much more enjoyable than grinding marks. 40 marks one at a time is...ouch. 8k honor out of AV? Win or lose, that's no biggy.

Just an edit to add:

Got into AV fairly seriously today trying to grind out that 8k honor. If you can win an AV run properly, the honor you can gain is sick. 700-800+/run...will be 1500+/run on AV weekend. Incredible honor potential.

If you're Horde.

Since AV was a no-chance scenario today, I decided to end my day with a WSG run (WSG being my PvP daily). I arrived to find myself the fourth alliance player in the BG and 9 Horde in our flag room. Joy.

Things evened out towards the end, but what was really kind of impressive was how I managed to top the kill board. I had one Warrior likely pounding his keyboard in frustration and if it weren't for the Priest healing him, I would have flattened him. Joust/Arcane over and over again. Scatter Shot when the timer was up...Snake Trap when it wasn't...hehehe. When it was over, I had 10 KBs..second highest was a Hordie with 9.

Love Hunter post-2.3. Hate Alliance even more post-2.3 though. Just...wow...
