So, having posted some threads earlier on about what spec to fool around with, I decided on what's in my armory (40/0/21 i believe). Now, I just tried to do a rep run in shat halls, and the other folks ripped me a new one about not getting UA and being an idiot, so on and so forth. I even asked the other lock to put up CoS because he was only using CoA on trash, and I had CoE for the mage. I thought that CoS would benefit us more since CoA would not run its full course. They said that dots are what I should focus on, which I replied "after dots, what are you going to be doing? standing around?" (referencing that SB's are the way to go) But no, they all flamed the hell out of me. I decided that constructive criticism is fine, but after how they flamed me, a rep run was not worth the trouble. Any thoughts on the matter?

My other question is about main hand and off hand, or staff. I see many, if not all locks choosing a sword/off hand now over a staff. Can someone explain that? I like my staff currently, and I look at some of the +sta, or +crit and such...am I missing something?

Thanks all!

(and sorry about the rant, its not everyday this happens)

I believe at your crit rate it would be better go UA over Ruin. I think you want to have 20% or 25% crit before ruin starts to out damage affliction.

You were right about CoS though, unless you were taking a long time taking down trash mobs.

As for the staff vs 1-hand/off-hand people tend to go with the off-hand simply because it gives them more options to mix and match.
EX: this staff has nice damage and crit, but this sword has the same dmg plus some hit, and i can get an off hand that has more damage and crit. The biggest downfall is you usually take a hit on Sta and Int when you do 1-hand/off-hand

Bout the same Damage increase... if you wanted to use ure Mal that bad I woulda just gone with CoS in the first place, which would only bolster your SB spam in the end anyways. And ya I personally don't like your selection of talents (to each his own) but I'd think Ruin and UA probobly get pretty close to eachother DPS/DPM wise, really depends the situation. I prefer UA for PVP options, which you obviously arn't interested in.

Up to you on that one.

Fact of the matter is you see the benefit in adding damage through a modifier instead of a flat addition, and by having 2 Locks there it is entirely possible that CoS would have been a better option than another Agony. I still don't get why you went with Ele for the Mage, did he have low +hit or something that he was getting resisted? Don't get it?

I appreciate the feedback. I played around with UA for a long time and I wanted to give ruin a shot. As for CoE, the mage was just going all out, so I figured I might as well throw up the curse to keep things moving since everyone wanted to rush through it.

As for talents, what would you think Tz? I know its not "Uber" and whatnot but it works for me and I still top dmg meters the majority of the time. PvP is something that I may do from time to time, halaa for example, but since I am not truly specced for it, I prefer 5-mans and such.

Gear-wise, its a shame that I am trying to get my dungeon set and possibly get tailoring high enough for FSW set...other than that, I haven't really put forth much effort to raid.

Well personally I like to be able to move at a moments notice OR take hits without loosing efficiency. For this reason I do not like SB spams except either when behind a *GOOD* tank or if your gonna get Intensity (which is a VERY nice talent btw.) It's for these Reasons I addore Instant casts and Drain Life (which is for the most part castthrough which effectively negates the damage intake by healing.)

Then again I have always played on PVP, and prefer to do things on my own when I play my Warlock unless there's no other options (even on 5mans I get bored sometimes and just kill something by myself.)

Anyways I don't usually roll out with Empowered Corruption, Imp Drain Soul gets useless at about 40, you didn't have Amp Curse or CoEx before (which combined is one of the nastiest snares in the game -- again with my PVPing self), you didn't have IHoT (imho the Affliction dealbreaker), and I can't remember if you did before but you don't have Shadow Embrace (which I have for the soul siphon benefits, and yes I'm aware of the recent nerf but DL is a HUGE dps ontop of your other DoTs, and they combo quite well.) I don't like Ruin because it relies on crits, which I never intentionally gear for as Affliction. One bonus here for you is you can max pull with a SB which is a nice boost to unengaged Damage (considering the projectile's flight time.)

That's me I know I'm not you so it doesn't really matter =)
