I was wondering if +defense rating is good for rogue. Or should I get some 'of monkey', 'of agility' items? i have riposte, so i thought i could improve my defense to use it more often

You don't want +def gear. Nice idea but no, don't bother...

Just stick with any "of the monkey" gear you can find. Strike a balance between Stamina and Agility gear and you will do fine. When you get higher up in levels you can start getting outland gear called "of the Bandit".

+Parry gear is hard to find for Rogues but you will find that Riposte will proc often enough even without any extra +parry gear.

defense is the last thing you want, i ran shadow labs with my brother and a rogue took the +defense and armor trinket off the 2nd boss. that same rogue had a 1.5 speed dagger with 50 dps in his main hand and 1.8 speed dagger with 63 dps in his off hand claiming it gave him more dps...

Amusingly enough, in my old raiding guild we had a rogue that we tricked out in druid tanking leathers and tanking trinkets and whatnot. We had him tank half of Kara one day. He did Attumen, Moroes, Maiden, and Opera. He tanked Curator down from about 30% because I DCd mid fight. Amusing, but rogues aren't tanks. Avoid the defense gear as a rule of thumb.

P.S.: I would have loved to let him try something in SSC or the Eye. XD
