Mage TwinkFollow

#1 Nov 17 2007 at 4:36 AM Rating: Decent
Ok I have been here before, and I know that people don't really support 19 mage twinks. But ever since the last patch I have been wondering whether to change in some of my gear for newer spell damage gear. What do you think?

Heres my armory: http://armory.worldofwarcraft.com/character-sheet.xml?r=Perenolde&n=Noobsbane

Thanks

I think you should go with other people and ditch the 19 mage twink. We don't say these things to practice our typing. It's just kinda pointless when you know your still going to get owned by every other twink out there and most non twinks as well. Just get to atleast 29 so you can be way more effective.

Meh think what you want, but I do quite well. Also you are not the only person with an oppinion, but don't shun it until you have tried it.

You could use more spell damage (I know it's hard to get.)

While I'm sure you can take alot of regular players to town with your Mage, what Dark was saying is that versus a Pal or Rogue twink, and especially against a Hunter twink, you're looking at a bad time. The funny thing is the problem isn't survivability as much as damage output, even as a "glass cannon" class, the mage doesn't do the damage needed to take out enemies when they have that sort of HP at that level.

Updated Serpent Gloves would drop you 3 STA but give you a somewhat decent boost to +dmg, and you could use something else for boots methinks.

I admire you trying to Twink out something less easy, but by the same accord it will be more difficult for you to find the "perfect" gearset.

Also have you Considered Fire? I know Ice is the usual PVP build but that's generally when you have more than 10 points to work with. Imp Fireball, Flamethrowing, and Imp Fireblast might serve you well, especially considering you just got a Fireball upgrade at 18, but your Frostbolt is only level 14 (upgrade at 20.) As for trying to keep them at bay, Frost bolt is great but your only real challenges here are guys that can get to you regaurdless (hunters, rogues, ect.)

Fire might work better for killing, but it looks like his talents are for completing WSG objectives. To that end it looks pretty good.

The previous poster is right about mage damage being insufficient to kill most twinks at 19. However, a stam-based mage can do an excellent job at running the flag and providing group support. Mages are also viable in 19 arena, but mostly against rogues and warriors (equally twinked and skilled hunters and pallies and priests and will make you cry).

Truthfully, if you're making a mage twink, 29+ is where the fun really starts. On the other hand, if you can make a 19 mage twink work, nobody can justifiably dismiss your achievements as 'all gear' - it takes a good portion of skill too.

hey I am in the proccess of a twink as well. What i can definitely suggest is that you try for the glove enchants for either frost or fire power. Other than that i also think that there is an enchant for the headpiece. Libram of constitution. So yeah, those are two things you can look into. Also, Nat Pagle's fishing hat is the ultimate headpiece for twinks. It's just impossible to get. Good Luck
