So I am leveling a Draenei Hunter alt, since my level 70 game is boring without a guild. My hunter is decently geared for his level (now at 34), with a blue bow that has pretty good DPS. And I just realized... I think I have died MAYBE once on my hunter. That's pretty amazing.

What made me realize this was a fight today. I'm in STV, going through the troll ruins to get one of the Troll Legends. I'm 34, and fighting 37s; no big deal. I send my pet after one, and accidentally shoot another. Oops :-P. No problem, I can stand a couple of knives getting flung at me. Then my pet gets a little too close to a Witch Doctor. Ok, three on one, a little tougher. I kill the first one I sent my pet after, and go after the Witch Doctor next... just to see two more berserkers patrolling, who immediately run into my pet and aggro.

Ok, four on one? I'm thinking that it's going to be a FD + goodbye pet kinda time.

But no. Through the use of a potion on myself, a freeze trap, mend pet (how overpowered is this skill!?) and gift of the naaru, I manage to kill all four (well, five if you count the first one).

I've never had the experience of taking on four enemies three levels higher than me at the same time, and surviving... with only 15 seconds of drinking/eating as downtime! Even better, I never even used my "Oh ****!" buttons, like Rapid Fire or Feign Death!

Just wanted to share that I love my hunter alt so far :D

This is the light side of the dark side just so you know, if you want the dark of the darkside be a mace rouge or an affliction warlock, also go ahead and pull the wings off insects and kick puppies if you go for that.

anyways...

Welcome to the club, there is 20 shot minimum (pun), heres your members card, and this is a coupon to Great Clips enjoy!

Tha paladin alt in me says you have been playing that class wrong. On mine, I was able to take on 9 regular mobs (yellow level), or 4 yellow level elites. And I wouldn't have any down time.

Also don't discount a feral druid. I can achieve same feats as I did on my Hunter when lvling. Solo multiple higher lvls? check, solo higher lvls elites? check, no downtime? check. Solo very hard 2 people required quest mobs? check.

Got a Druid and a Hunter myself. My Hunter can still solo harder mobs than my Druid. Mainly through Kiting. But when it comes to the number of equal level mobs, my Druid can also hold her own. Then again, that comes mainly after you get high into Feral. My Hunter could do that while still hardly specced for anything at lower levels.

My manager said on his priest he could solo 3 higher level elites with some crazy mind control work, and I've seen a level 60 mage go into ZG and solo a group (when 60 was the cap).

I had a easier time soloing nesingwary bosses as a druid than as hunter, in Nagrand. Nothing like bear/heal/bear/innervate/heal/bear frenzied regen. repeat.

checked out your gear..and I should mention I don't consider kara/za "raiding"
And really there are spots for hunters, the problem is caused by over populated. Got to stand out to get in.

Know a number of Hunters from ssc up to being done with BT and we are strongest if not the best DPS class in entire game as it stands. And I see no difficulties for Hunters on my server getting in raid, as for me I simply can't commit to serious raiding atm due to RL besides I am sick of 5 days a week raiding which I did for 3 years straight in EQ(everquest) but if I wanted to get into a raiding guild, I can easily do so.

As for skill, of course it is a given. However I am doing early 25ths anyway, Gruuls, Loot Reaver and doing the obvious basic fundamentals that every hunter should know, I have no problem taking top spot in majority of raids.
