Embrace of the Viper, Help me i cant take it off!!!Follow

Greetings fellow druids!

For many days i braved the raptor infested, slime covered walls of the Wailing Caverns, home of the Fanglords. Their dread reign over this underground network of caves and passages had to end, for the sake of our brethern, suffering in his nightmares. I slayed the Fanglords and their kind without mercy, and after a long, (extremely long, 16 consecutive kills of Lord Cobrahn without drop!) tiresome battle i finally emerged victorious, my prize the coveted Embrace of the Viper set. I wore, (and still wear it) with pride. My first ever full set on my first ever character. It was glorious!

But alas, nothing lasts forever. The shifting sands of the Thousand Needles beckons me as i sit on the lowest level of Thunder Bluff, enjoying some alchohol made by a crazy goblin at Ratchet. With my back against the wall of the nearest pavilion, i gaze out across Mulgore, reminiscing on my adventures down there and thinking about how far i have come. Indeed i have come far indeed. When i was but a wee little calf, i did not have any idea how to... well do anything! But now, i am an expert Alchemist and Herbologist (sp?!), a journeyman fisherman and most importantly, a loyal and devoted Druid dedicated to the will of the Cenarion Circle and the Earth Mother, (although my reputation is fairly low with the former). I have befriended several other druids on my journeys, shamans, sneaky rogues a happy go lucky hunter and a mage who never washes and is unfortunatly, the leader of the guild i am in. I smile to myself as i think about our rag-tag guild. Us tauren are mocked constantly, but that is only because we are the best! Our guild has no organisation, an expedition to the underwater network of Blackfathom (if thats right, the one in Ashenvale) fell through because of an encounter with volumous amounts of liquor. However i must stop my ramblings... i came here because i had questions, questions dammit.

As you may or may not know, after the lastest Patch, the Embrace of the Viper set went from great to awesome. All of the pieces are blue and have been given upgraded statisics. I will link them below, but please excuse the mess as i am not internet savvy.

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=6473&locale=enUS;source=live - Armor of the Fang
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=10412&locale=enUS;source=live Belt of the Fang
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=10411&locale=enUS;source=live Footpads of the Fang
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=10413&locale=enUS;source=live Gloves of the Fang
http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=10410&locale=enUS;source=live Leggings of the Fang

As i said im not really internet savvy - you may have to copy and paste the links.

So im wearing this set, with some very nice rings, and a trinket i acquired from doing battlegrounds, (which is AWESOME!!!).

However im having really big problems in replacing this gear. I just cant find anything that justifies losing the bonuses that this set gives even at my current level. (My current level is 29 and im a Feral Druid with messed up talents, dont ask i didnt have any idea what i was doing so i put them everywhere. A re-spec is in order). I plan to go to Gnomeregan (i think thats the name), because of the good double handed mace that drops there, and there is a quest for that dungeon which will give me leggings that give +18 agility. I mean, i can find some individual items that are better than individual pieces of the set, but my main problem is that in my eyes, none of these items warrant me taking off the entire set and losing all the bonuses it grants. Am i right here or just being silly?

To try and make a long post shorter (and probably fail at that), ill tell you guys what i plan to wear and what i need help with :D

Hands - No idea, was thinking tough leather gloves (level 22 i think).
Chest - Absolutely no idea at all
Legs - The plus 18 agility legs, reward from the quest Rig Wars i believe
Belt - Defilers Leather belt, (the one that increases attack power)
Feet - Defilers Leather Boots, (increases movement speed)

So can i please please pleaaaaaaaaaaaaaase get some help with regards to what the heck i should be wearing! And are there any other sets i should look out for?

Many thanks,

Sarathai

I liked the introduction, but damn that was a long read. :P

But yeah, for the set... I'd say don't bother with the set bonuses. If you do look at them, it's not much of a difference.

2: More Nature damage, not that useful. By now you're always in your Feral forms I'd suppose so you don't really use Wrath much. (Starfire/Moonfire are Arcane)
3: Expertise rating by 4, I dunno. To be frank I haven't really studied that stat yet and I know even much less what 4 rating amounts to at your level.
4: 11 +Heal is always nice, but it's nothing vital. Your Healing Touch spells benefits from 100% of that, so you can consider it heals you for 11 more points... not a huge difference.
5: 10 Int. Not bad at all, since the set does not have any Int on it. But then again it's the final set bonus which you'll be breaking first. Once it's gone, in my opinion, set bonuses become negligible.

Now, with this being said, I cannot really advice for specific gear. You can take a look and WoW-Loot but it mostly shows dungeon drops. I would personally advise focusing on leveling and checking out the AH once in a while. Just replace the pieces individually as you find better stuff. The pieces *are* blue after all so they are meant to last you for a while.

If you go the Amrory website, and look at your own profile (not narcissistic at all), you can move your mouse over any piece of kit you have equipped. A small side/bottom bar should appear by that piece of kit, and the website can suggest upgrades for that slot ie better equipment than the stuff you are currently wearing.

You're welcome.

Didn't the set at least have some int before? Now it's just a purple version of the DM set with worse set bonuses.

Actually the set did not originally have intellect bonuses, although I believe the chest had a spirit bonus.

A better replacement for the pants is Ferine Leggings (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=6690) from the big boar in RFK, this is what I replaced my last Tauren quest reward Kodo Hunter's Leggings with.

My other replacements were not matched now that each piece has improved bonuses, but I agree that unless you are balance or restoration specced, the set bonuses are useless except perhaps for shaman because of their misalignment with the piece bonuses.

I also think Herbologists are usually referred to as Herbalists....
