Benchmarks for HeroicsFollow

#1 Nov 15 2007 at 11:42 AM Rating: Decent
With the new change to obtaining keys for Heroics, can we get some sort of benchmark for mages before they venture into Heroics?

Example:
HP > 7000
Mana > 8000
SpellDmg+ > 650
SpellHit > 50

I would think that spelldmg > 750 and spellhit > 100 would be good.

750 seems right but spell hit seems high. You might get a few resists but you will still be fine with 80 or so. The herioc stuff hits harder but does not seem to resist much more then on normal.

Gettin 100 spell hit isn't that hard to get. Spell strike gloves and pants, scryers bloodgem, ashyens gift, +hit enchant to gloves, and some vnt's. I am pretty sure that alone will put you over 100.

You don't really need spell hit in heroics.. I have extremly poor spell hit (around 20), ~700 spell damage, 33 crit (As a fire mage). I almost never get resisted in heroic.

You need spell hit in heroics if you want to keep track of your resists and such on bosses. Trash clearing requires no spell hit as those are just lvl 70 elites (in most cases).

agreed, it is also important for when you want to step into kara and beyond.

For heroics themselves, you'll only need 5% hit to cap, 26 rating with talents or 63 without. You'll want to build it up for raiding, sure, but if you have no intention of going beyond there, you really don't need much at all.

I have 26 hit rating at the moment (I checked), just stuff where i couldn't get crit yet. I almost never get resisted at heroics (Not more then when farming), and i don't have elemental precision (i'll get it for raiding, as well as more hit, don't get your panties in a bunch)

So the bosses in heroics don't qualify as 73 elites (therefore requiring the 16% chance to hit?) I can say I didn't know that if it is true.

I think they usually have the level showing. 71s usually with the occasional 72.

You can still get away with 600-700 damage and 40-60 hit (specially in ramps, BF, UB) and depending on group. The biggest problem we're all going to run into isn't people going to heroics with bad gear.. but people going to them with bad skills. I bailed on 3 heroic runs the day of the patch do to people pulling agro and getting 1 shotted.

But.... speaking of gear here's a story. Day of patch I was looking for a heroic Shatt halls and got into a pug. Now I have 800 damage and 89 hit.. and I like to think I know what I'm doing. But tank had 1 epic helm. Rogue had epic ring and trink. Hunter was all blues with 3 greens.... tank wiped on first pull and I blinked out and bailed. I'm going to say it.. getting keys at honored now was a really really..... REALLY stupid idea.

I've ran two Heroics and we've done great. I'm reasonably geared, not great though. I have 441 Frost damage, 25 spell hit, and something like 15% crit to hit. I have an 8.6k mana pool. Soooooooo, as you can see, I'm not in anything great at all. The only time my group (s) have had trouble was on those huge things warlocks get with axes, and how they can one shot clothies, and how there are two of them. Of course when you don't have a warlock you can't banish any of them and it's super hard because of that.

it really just depends on who got the keys at honored. because I am already geared it was nice that I didn't need to go grind 2 more faction's rep to get revered, but the biggest differencial will be between tanks and healers not being geared enough to be in a heroic. tanks must have the 490 defense and a ton of armor+hp or else they will die very quickly, meaning the healer must heal more proactively.

QFT. As a mage, I really don't see a huge difference in heroics vs. non-heroics. Just sit back and nuke and don't pull aggro off the tank.

But it makes such a great difference when the DPS are also well geared. The run goes much smoother and much faster, and in cases where CC is not ideal, it can make the difference for wipe/no wipe. Plus, I am a mage, but it doesnt seem fair at all that only the tanks and healers should carry the biggest or the only responsability in terms of gear. Of course that their role is the vital one, but if I was them I would say "hell, if im geared and specced so great, i want you to have good gear as well".

/agree. The point I was trying to make was that, as a mage, you don't see as much of a difference in heroic vs. normal mode (unless you pull aggro). I was not advocating poorly geared mages go and run heroics.

I agree with KT. I am lucky enough to now be in a guild with very good tanks and healers, but the difference was hardly noticable as a DPS class between the two. Loving the daily's.
