With no shadowstep bonus, I just crit a mage for 3.7k with eviscerate.

Keep in mind I'm using the BLUE pvp reward weapon. I can't wait to see how this build plays with an actual decent weapon.

What makes it all the more hilarious was this mage had somehow managed to get on top of the blacksmith in AB. He then started casting frostbolts at me, to which I just stepped right up to him and OWNED HIS FACE OFF WITH A 3.7K EVIS.

Oh my god I love shadowstep.

Maybe ya forgot there Shao, but Evis does (basically, stat difference makes it almost unnoticable) the same damage regardless of weapon used.

Warglaive of Azzinoth vs. Skinning dagger on an Evis. you're not gonna see that big of a difference.

Isn't evis... independant of weapon damage?

ShS is freakin sweet in BGs. I had so much fun with the old ShS in there. I got whooped hard in arenas though. :\ Not sure i could try out the new one unless i feel like blowing 100g on respecs for an AV weekend.

Old step and new step are completely different.

New step can be used in COMBAT which is a tremendous buff. Not to mention that hemo does WICKED damage now and dirty deeds basically ignores resilience...

Wow. Just wow. Sub is the tree to be for pvp.

This is what makes me mad the most when I quit. This is exactly what i was hoping for.

That and the combination of Hemo being extremely raid viable is amazing.

I tried stepping across the towers in AV after reading Shao's post. Couldn't do it. Said that it was too far away. Tried from a few different spots with no luck.

Where did you stand to do that Shao?

Jump across, ShS last second was how it used to be done.

All this talk of the improved sub tree has got me interested in starting up again.

I have a few questions about what builds you guys are ShS with. I have my own Ideas of play style but some input would be appreciated.

1) Are you dropping MoD or Camo for Opportunity?
I figured that with shadowstep you wont need to get close to your enemy to initiate combat, so the chances of them spotting you are a lot lower. Therefore MoD isn't as useful as Camo.

2) Where are you dropping points in the sub tree to pick up Cheat-Death and Setup or are you only choosing one?
Having never played with either I have no real opinion on them, but I presume it would be best to drop points from either Deadliness or Sinister calling. I'm going along the assumption that I did fine as combat / assassination so the Ap/Agi buff is less of a loss than say... 100% chance to not die from damage that would otherwise kill you. If you do drop one, which hurts less dps wise?

3) Do you take everything & just ditch having Imp. Gouge?
Imp. Gouge has been a staple move of BG/world PvP as well as solo PvE for me. The amount of times Imp. Gouge has saved me is insane.

With gouge. Without Gouge

Sorry for the rather Newbie "rate my build lol" post. But i've been out of wow since August & things have changed a whole bunch.

Cheers in advance.

Edit: Removed a question that had been covered in a different thread and added a talent link.

Since the damage bonus from shadowstep is no longer limited to certain moves, then in this situation you did get the bonus, assuming this was your first move after the step. The only explanation for you not receiving the bonus on the eviscerate would be if you Hemo'd or ghostly instead. If I'm wrong please explain.

Not taking opportunity. No need to be daggers with ShS now, it affects your next ability and is no longer limited to BS/Ambush/Garrote.

I just left out setup. Not sure which will give you better dps, it may depend on much AGI you have vs. how much AP you have... or something.

No, I went 18/2/41... but that was really just for big hemo crits. You're probably better off 0/20/41, just not as fun.

How would my first move be a 5 point evis?

I stepped up to him, slapped him a few times then owned him with said evis.

You can Premed>Shadowstep>Cheapshot without consuming the Shadowstep Buff. The +20% dmg buff lasts 10 seconds so you can then perform a 5 Point Eviscerate.

Exactly what Flub said. I am only asking because I am curious. You could have easily made this post and never mentioned shadowstep. If it didn't contribute, then you mentioning it three times seems like wasted energy (no pun intended). Since the patch, I have gotten a max of 3.4K with the shadowstep bonus factored in, and 3.2K without. Anytime I see numbers larger than what I usually get (about a move where weapon plays virtually no role), I get curious. I'm always seeking to improve my game.

I've been messing around with a 16/0/45 dagger build.
having a lot of fun in the bgs ambushing half dead victims. yea yea i know i'm a dishonorable opportunistic KB stealing "coward" lol

SHS ambushed a 67 druid in AV for 5.6k yesterday, that made me happy.

But I can't wait to get the S1 maces to try out AR/PREP/HEMO. Have any of you guys tried out 30/0/31?
Those hemo crits must be nice.

Well, don't really know how to explain the numbers. The shadowstep bonus was consumed in the hemo I hit him with. Maybe better gear?

Shao do you have imp. evis? or maybe it's the extra attack power from SC/deadliness boosting the evis dmg. Where is Nooble to do some math when you need him....

maybe that mage had a zerking buff? an extra 10% dmg on evis added to the 20% from step might account for the damage.
