So....what do ya'll think about the new animation for volley? I don't like it. It looks like we're blasting fireworks at the mobs. While I'm sure I'll get used to it I much prefered arrows raining from the skies. I also noticed there's a sound glitch with it. The noise doesn't always go away after it's done. Another and myself were spamming volley while waiting in the arena queue and we made the place sound like it was built next to a subway. Not sure why we got such a kick out of it.

Also, it seems to really bog down people on older machines. I ran H bot last night with another hunter and the mage and the healer kept ******** whenever we both fired off vollies cause it dropped their frames to 10 - 15 fps. Amusing but still a smooth run.

Anyway.....thoughts, opinions, gripes, complaints, desires for the old animation. Let them be known.

Well, I just have one thing to say at the moment.
If this thing bogs down older systems, WOOHOO! Another tool to use against people who reduce the efficiency of raids and so on because their hardware quite simply can't cope with it. I don't expect to be welcomed into a BG with outdated greenies, and I don't welcome people into raids with sub-par computers.

Seriously, a system capable of running WoW flawlessly is cheaper than a night out these days.

North is right on target about the "older computers"...new ones are very reasonable $$$ now...so people with slower machines...do yourselves...and everyone else on WOW a favor and get a new one for Christmas... ;)

It's an improvement, once you've used it a few times. The old Volley didn't look or sound very strong. Magic blue arrows falling out of the sky. The new one has a strong sound to it, and the faster, white animations make it look more physical.

And no more will my Dwarf be forced to load a dozen arrows into his boomstick
to get off a decent volley, damn dangerous that was, lost several guns due to shaft blockage...

New animation is nice though, can pretend they're bullets right good.

His Boomstick? That's easymode. Can you imagine how tedious it is for my Night Elf to tie all those arrows into a bunch, not to mention pull the bowstring with that giant lump?

Haha, I think it's a pretty cool thing.

They should just make one giant arrow or bullet fall from the sky and slam into the target.

I dislike the new animation and prefer the old style.

Havn't had a chance to try both out yet, but is the new animation for both types of weapons, i feel that the new animation is good for guns, but they should leave the old animation for bows, just a little distinguishing fact. I also agree about the old pc's, I bought my pc 3 years ago and its still a screaming machine, just upgraded my grafix card to a 512 and its amazing.

Meh... I just tried it out and I don't like it either. But at least it's only an aesthetic change... not like the change to (now, non-existent) double-trapping.

I think the old animation represented a "volley" of ammo more accurately than this new one.

QFT. But then again, I prefer high-end hookers.

I miss the old animation with the shower of arrows. No more forcing the enemy to fight in the shade.

They have two separate shoot animations for guns and bows, why can't they do the same for Volley?

I don't like the new animation. Looks like your shooting a fire hose. We have all seen braveheart right? remeber those scenes where the arrows rain down... how hard can it been to do something like that?

Every time I see the new animation I think of certain dirty rap songs and I chuckle.

No kidding, the new one looks like you have 30 hunters all taking shots at the same spot, releasing at the same time. I don't like it as much, though I did notice over the weekend (I was very bullet concious whan I was running to prince with 25 bullets left) that Volley doesn't use any ammo...

Any one play mercenarys?
Remember the carpet bomb or whatever it was where a huge bomb falls, blows up into medium size bombs, which blow up into more smaller bombs which explode in an acre radius.
^that'd be a great one for volley^

Yeah, I like the new animation as far as the looks of the volley...but it looks like it's bursts of arrows whereas my impression of volley was a continuous stream.

I didn't much like the fact that for so long, every once in a while I shot arrows from my gun.

But then, the very day I switch to a bow, I'm shooting blue sparkly bullets from it.

You know what, blizzard? Make Volley have two possible animations. The old arrows one if you have a bow or crossbow, or a less extravagant version of this new one if you have a gun.

Try it in Orgrimar on a hot day and watch the kids run under it thinking it's a sprinkler. It's novel but find it all a bit to comical for my liking.

It would look a lot better if the character remained in a shooting position while they were falling, instead of just standing there.

Technically, what you're describing is the very concept of a volley. ;p

I'd not mind if it took more of a Hero approach and just had a mass quantity of projectiles coming down all at the same time, instead of a onesie-twosie type effect.

Ok, the old volley made it look plausible that 1 hunter could be "raining down a volley". The new animation looks like you have 30 different hunters, not just 1 doing a volley.

Looks too much like sheets of rain in a Hurricane, and I know this from first hand experience of being inside a hurricane...

Ah, now that I agree with. And yes, I do agree that between the two animations we have, I'd prefer the old one. :)

volley technicaly equals several lines of ranged troups firing at the same time... I dont know how relevant that was, i guess I was just stating that for the hell of it.

Are you serious? I heard it on my machine (software sound, and decent speakers), and my boyfriend's machine (using hardware sound with an Creative X-fi sound card, and some of the best surround-sound speakers on the market), and we both agree that it just sounds like someone blowing into a microphone.

As for the new animation, it looks buggy at best when spell animation is turned down. When spell animation is turned up, it still only looks mediocre. I'm reminded of sparkly things you'd see coming out of a wand in a Harry Potter movie.

I really miss the old animation and sound.
