Last night runnin Ramparts in a PUG. On our first run the second boss drops a plate belt with str/agi/sta plus to crits an hit. A holy Pally want to roll need so I tell him that their other plate drops thats better for him. This belt is a big upgrade for me. He still rolls need agaist me and win. We finish the instance then make another run. We get to the first boss and he dropped some plate legs that would have been a huge upgrade for him. This time I roll need an won. Thats when the crying started him and his buddy starts complaining that it was pally plate. In the end he got something that was not much of a upgrade and I got to vendor some pally plate legs.

IMHO.... Yes you where wrong.

While the belt was something he could use, but would have been better fit for you I dont really think he was wrong for the belt roll.

As for the legs, him getting and upgrade is better than you get vendor trash, sorry.

This is why i havnt run a PUG in over 2 years.

Yeah. You were in the wrong on that one. Just because he's a Holy Pally don't mean he does not need a good set of DPS gear. Much like if we are Fury and a nice +defense/block/etc item drops... would you not want to have that for your tanking gear also?

Little words to live by:
Pally in the party, plan on rolling against him lol. They need a DPS set (for soloing), a Tanking set, and a Healing set. In PUGs you can bet they'll Need for all the Plate and good weapons and sheilds lol.

However, if it has +healing/+Int/etc just pass... Revenge will just get people's feelings hurt (and a high amount of Threat!), and not worth it.

Yeah but when a guy rolls need on every drop that we both can use. With no thought of the other class in the group until something drop that he really want. Yes I may have been wrong but a fare exchange is no robbery.

You and that idiot paladin are both ********. Now, I wouldn't have done the same thing, but maybe you just beat him at his own game.

Ask yourself, is losing this item to a paladin worth ruining a reputation for?

Fair exchange?

What were the Leggings that 'would have been a upgrade for him'? Did they have Int, spell damage, etc on it?

Rolling Need means it's a upgrade. You have the same chance that the other guy who Needs that item has on winning it. It was a upgrade for both of you.

Are you trying to tell us that this is the 1st time you've ran by this kind of thing in your 58'ish levels??

I won 2 plate items in one run once. Yes I was the only plate wearer, but even so, if there was another, if it's a upgrade I'm going to roll need on it. Leggings that are useless to you, Needing on them makes you like like a spoiled brat throwing a temper tantrum. Him winning the roll on the DPS item just makes him look like he's trying to max his gear sets out.

OP... It happens. You would think at lv 58+ you'd have picked up on that. In PUGs they're not running that with you for the 'grand ol' experience, and meeting new friends', sometimes that happens tho, you meet cool people. However, 90% of the time you're just out to get <better item here> or rep.

You asked for our opinions then you're going to try to argue your point further? When you are so far in the wrong it's not even funny. Smiley: disappointed

Yes it was wrong and no I have never ran into anything like him and his buddy before. They where the most greedest two players I ever ran accross. I have ran pugs with pallies before and we did not have problem. Yes it feels so good to be wrong. Oh an I was not trying to justify what I did. I still made two friends and put two on the do not group with list.

Honestly, that plate belt isn't for a paladin who's main role is healing. I dont care who you are, a holy paly who is healing at lvl 60 can find a way better belt than ninja'ing that one from a warrior. Sure he might need a DPS set, but still, the sockets and stats are all wrong for a retardadin.

Meh, I understand that it's plate, but seriously, its more of a warrior item. If I were in your shoes, and it really upset me that much, I just would have left the group high and dry. Although its not any better than what you did. It would have given me another chance to get the Tenacious D with a different group.

Next time, if you are compiling your group, just get a different healer that can't wear plate. That simple. Just remember not to ninja anyone elses loot that you can't really use. If I can't use it, and its BoP or blue, I usually pass on the item and hope someone can DE (if no one needs it) and roll for the shard.

But seriously...you were wrong, i'm sure you're tired of hearing it, but you asked.

Yes, you were perfectly in line. That paladin was an utter douchebag and he got his in the end. Karma is a female dog.

The only time someone should be allowed to roll need on an item they CAN use but aren't going to use straight away is if noone else is going to roll need on them.

Vengeance was yours!
My priesty almost lost the healing gloves from BF to a mage >.>

Yeah, you were wrong to roll on the plate leggings. The pally wasn't wrong to roll on the belt and he won the roll. It's all about the luck. I lost a lot of gears to pallies (Some holy pallies were nice enough to pass on dps / tank gear). But that's normal.

Shamans and Hunters...Fury warriors fight over dps mail armor. Feral Druids and rogues...Fury warriors fight over dps leather armor. Healing classes roll for cloth armor that has +heal. Shadow priests and Warlocks roll for similar gear.

Roll on items that enhance your abilites not just because you can use them. If another player wins it fair and square, be a good looser and congratulate him. Sometimes, people will recognise you for your fairness and generosity and will pass when they see something that is more useful to you than the other class.

Or to avoid frustration, run without a pally in the group xD

I'd have to say that you were in the wrong. He needed on an item that he actually can use, while you needed on one that has no benefit to you. He may be holy right now, but it's quite possible that he'd been holy for a while and wanted a change but simply didn't have the gear to make that change, and thus rolled on it.

However, while he's gearing up to respec he still needs to gear out his current spec, and so he'd need the other item, too. All you really did is make yourself seem immature loot-***** which kills your reputation.

My two cents:

It's a PUG, the loot rules should have been spelled out beforehand and all agree. If he then rolled Need on the belt when he said he wouldn't...adios muchachos and good luck.

The sure-fire way to avoid sthis to run with your guild (if you're in one) or with friends. You chance facing this PUGs constantly. The counter argument to the legs being an upgrade for him and that you should have passed is that since you won the roll, you can sell them to help pay for an upgrade in your gear, which the belt would've been.

So, either run with friends or guildies or set the loot rules out up-front with PUGs.

You were out of order by rolling on the pally legs. You get yours in Zangarmarsh or Blood Furnace. Share and Share alike: There is appropriate gear for you coming up, so don't ninja (You Vendored it) from other classes. That is the ultimate WoW no-no. You will find yourself without a group and your name and reputation ruined.

Besides: There's a nice Blue Helmet in one of the Auchindoun helmets that is apparently designed for a Pally (it has +2 Mana), but is ideal for a warrior. You can legitimately Need for a Pally Helm.

IMO you weren't wrong. You NEED it. He didn't...
