Now that evocate returns 60% of total mana over 8 secs.

I wasted all my mana and tried evocate. Lacklustre, I got back around 6k mana back keep in mind that I am in IF and was OOC. Previously, with my spirit sticks (staff and wand) I got back way more mana than that (at least 2k more) though it was in raid conditions with Divine Spirit probably up.

Any tips to get more mana back?
I have 9851 mana given this change, I think I would use a int stick. When I am fully raid buffed up I got 10k mana. 60% is a measely 6k back, which is OK if I start evocating earlier. Just wished that a stat was the basis of evocate ticks instead of total mana which when raiding does not really amount to a lot.

An Int stick is actually a very good idea(one I must admit I hadn't considered). The change to Evocate actually suggests that mages pick up a bit more int than they used to, as well. I think that this change will benefit arcane mages the most, which is ok since they're the ones usually most in need.

Because spirit gives OH SO MUCH in a raid enviroment, yes? :P

You can always do as Poldaran suggests and equip int weapons instead, although I rarely need to evocate if I am using pots and gems properly (AoE fights excluded).

Although I got that idea from the O-boards, I suggested using int stick first. and while I did do that last nite at ZA the results were still something between what we used to get from evocated if we look at numerical value of mana regained.

Yes spirit based evocate was a half-***** answer to mage mana regen problems. I recall the days when you have to put points into arcane to get 1) instant AE and 2) evocation. Any mage without those 2 talents were considered broken.

Given raiding circumstances, a mage using evocate would want around 75% to 80% mana back. We used to get this back quite easily by simply changing to a green weapon and a green wand. Being raid buffed also meant something, otherwise the amount returned was this number that time and this number this time. Unstable does not really describe how evocate is.

Now with this change, mages face another problem which you just brought up and its something I do not want to bring in here as what I am after now is a way to get more mana (at least numerically and not proportionally) back. If spirit was to remain on mage tier gear then at the very least spirit should do something extra than just provide very bad mana regen while in combat.

What I did to make Evocation a little better was to equip an Int Green Wand and a Staff of Infinite Mysteries with +30 Int Enchant when I Evocate. I got about 70%+ Mana back (when I switch back to dmg gear), not even close to an Evocation from someone with T5~T6 with stacked Spirit and such....but it´s not that bad to everyone without that and specialy to PvP.

This also depends on your spec as to how good it is. I caved in and went arcane spec for the reduced threat, so my mana pool is huge. The old evocation would only give me back a small amount (40%?) of mana... getting 60% of a 10K+ mana pool is hawt!
